My new EDC Alox Mod.
on: October 09, 2010, 06:32:58 PM
I like Alox knifes. I always carry a SAK as EDC. I work mostly in the office and therefore I like my SAKs

to have a scissors.
But as you guys know Alox and scissors are not a common combination. At least in the big Alox league.

I modified a "de Sax" bicolor Pioneer and exchanged the can opener with a pruner blade, which is a more

useful tool for officework. And of course I added a scissors.

The knife works fine and looks good. Only the last pinhead didn't want as I wanted,      but who

cares.

Awesome!  My main Alox EDC is a Scibeer moded Red Pioneer (scissors added).

My knife and all the other mods i can remember seeing, always pivot the scissors on the other end.  I like how you're mod (like some old Vics) pivot the scissors at the same end as the main blade.  Is this just a preference?  Is there any advanatage to that?

In the new year I hope to find someone to mod a Damascus Pioneer for me and change it up a bit; scissors will be part of it.

Great Job!!

An interesting modification. One of the more interesting Alox I've ever seen.

In this case I think it doesn't matter on which side the scissors is. My next mod project is a farmer with scissors and firesteel. There I'll probably pivot the scissors on the other end, otherwise the mainblade, woodsaw and scissors would be on the same pivot and the nailnick could be hidden. I'll see...
Perhaps some other moders can tell us about their experiences with this ...

Nice SAK!

I'm a getting a stranger desire for a bag of pear drops though :P

The main reason you see the scissors pivot at the opposite end to the blade it to make nail nick access easier but of course the frame is symmetrical so you can have them the other way around like this.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Excellent mod Victor. :tu:  Is there any significance to the red/yellow colours?  Or is it just because it looks lovely? :)

Red and Yellow/gold are the colors of the coat of arms of the familiy "de Sax".
This crest is etched on the mainblade.

It's my familiy knife  :)

Very nice.
I tried to get one of those not modified on eBay, as someone was selling a few...but I was outbid on each and every one of them. I figured it was not meant to be, as others just edged me out on the win.
A little Leatherman information.
