So its been quite the month....
on: October 20, 2010, 07:30:09 PM
In the last 30 days, I've had to fly home to Hawaii for 2 funerals.  My aunt and my uncle (different families).  I call him my uncle, but he was really a close family friend...my dad's best friend since kindergarten.

In the last 15 days, I've also found out that one of my 3 dearest and oldest friends (30 years) suddenly passed away after suddenly coming ill and going into ICU and CCU for 2 weeks.  She was one of those rare people that everyone loved.
Sigh...so much death...  I'm still reeling from this one.

but...on the flipside...

10 days ago we received a surprise in the mail...
OUR ADOPTION CERTIFICATE!!!  MELELANI IS OURS!!  Fully, legally and forever!

Thank you everyone for your support during this looooooong battle.

Sorry to hear about your losses. My thoughts are with you! I had a similar situation. My grandma passed away very quickly from good health last summer. She was in hospital to get an operation on a broken bone (which she got from falling while dancing), and the night before she got cerberal hemorrhage and died shortly after that. I didn't even had the chance to talk to her again. A few weeks later my grandpa passed away after a heart operation. All went well with the heart but not the lung. He needed a somach tube and he hated it. After a few weeks we let the doctors remove it. It was really hard for me to loose him. Just a few weeks later my mother in law died. She suffered from MS and in the end it was better to let her go than to see her suffering any longer, but loosing 3 family members in 6 months was hard  :-[

Congratulations on the adoption certificate! I guess this will bring an end to a lot of fears

I can relate. I went through a similar experience in 2001. My dad passed away Aug 25 just three days after my birthday and we grieved. Two weeks later on September 5 my son was born and we were overjoyed. Just six days later 9\11. I lost my job on that day because the hotel I worked in at the time was across the street from the WTC and it suffered extensive damage . I was off duty when it happened. I remember feeling so much sorrow, guilt and confusion. Sorrow for the loss of so many, guilt for bringing a child into such a world and confused for feeling guilty. So many emotions in such a short span of time.
So sorry for the loss of your loved ones. So happy that your adoption came through.
Congratulations to you and your family!!!
Erick

congrats on the kiddo my friend, they are the best thing in the world.  My son has brought me more joy and laughs than anything else in my life.

I am sorry for your losses.  I dread the day when I get another death in the family phone call.  I don't handle them well, I just lose it.  Stay strong and love that beautiful little girl!
