Got a surefire Saint Minimus ( headlamp ) .

So far I like it , 100 Lumen at the top end , and infinately variable in between . Looks pretty rugged , beam quality is pleasing to the eye . It has put my old Petzel TacTika into backup status . I haven't sorted out a pouch yet , just wear the strap around the neck , actually works quite well as a task light in that position . I will probably fabricate an elastic spare cell holder for the strap . I have a few ideas on how to mount it on a hardhat .

Chris,

Nice setup.  I did have to go onto Surefire's website to see exactly what it looked like.  Good idea making a spare battery compartment.  I wonder how well it would do on rechargeables?  I now have 8 tenergy r123's and I'm
running them in my LED lights.  Those headlamps are invaluable in some situations aren't they?  :tu:

Two well known issues with Surefires - they have battery compartment diameter issues with some rechargeables , they have problems with the higher voltages found in some rechargables , check voltages with a DMM . I get primaries pretty cheap , and get pretty long service life with them , not sure they are worth the bother . For the cost of cells and a charger , I can buy lots of fresh primaries for the cost of the setup .

In some applications , I find headlamps indispenceable .

Yeah this whole thing with rechargeables is expensive for sure.  These Tenergy cells actually top out at 3.9 volts
charged so they are higher than their rating.  The other thing is I doubt they are 900ma as specified however I just finished running them down and they lasted about 130 minutes before shutting off like a light switch (protection circuits).  I also can get surefire primaries pretty cheap as well but when I go out I'm running my lights for long periods of time so figured rechargeables the way to go.  Mine do slide into the cylinder just fine on my lights so far.

Congrats Chris on your new light. I have had one for a while now and use it around the house when ever I need a hands free light. It should serve you well.
