Anyone use an activity tracker?
on: February 21, 2014, 01:28:53 AM
I was talking to my pharmacist and he showed me a bracelet device called Nike Fuel that tracked his steps, etc. I thought something like that might help me monitor my fitness attempts. I went to the local Sport Check and of course they didn't carry the Nike Fuel. They did however carry Fitbit products but I quickly found that even their largest bracelets did not fit me. We then spied a Polar Loop hanging on the wall. After taking it out of the packaging to try it on, it was so large I would end up trimming some of the bracelet away to make it fit. Now that is what I called a well sized product.  I ended up buying the Polar Loop. I am going to see how this thing works. I plan on walking around the school for an hour each day on my prep period when I can. Last time I did this, I did lose some weight. That is the plan. Curious to see how this bracelet tracking device will work out in the end for me.

Here is a review I found online after I bought the device. I must say, the minimalist design hides a fairly large display. If nothing else, I can wear it as a watch.  :)

I think there gimmicky. Every smart phone has the ability to download a app that does the same thing. I don't find them accurate either you can shake the device and it will count it as a few steps

Best way to do things is get a journal. If you are capable of exercising track what you do that way. If you go fir a walk write it down. If you do push ups write it down. Any thing you do physical. Then at the end of the month add it all up and try to beat that score next month

Get Endomondo for your smartphone or use it with a sportswatch. I always run with my Garmin XT310 and upload to www.endomondo.com to keep track..  :tu:

Fitbit on my necklace, withings on my wife's.

Fitbit logs in with withings, myfitnesspal, earndit and everymove, so the more I move, the more charity.

I have a set of goals (12k steps, 75 flights of stairs) that motivates me.

my boss has a fitbit that clips to his belt. Neat little thing and seems to work well.
The one thing that does seem to put it out a bit is if he's spent a while in a tractor when it thinks he's been a really good boy and done lots of exercise.
