Fenix Headband; Opinions Please
on: October 25, 2010, 11:57:46 AM
Has anyone got one of these Fenix Headbands?

I've an LD10 and a P1D on the way and think this headband would work well with them  :tu:

I currently have an Energiser Advanced Headlight. It was the best thing ever until I got some 'real' lights. Still serves its purpose well as handsfree light though; got it for a mere £7 in Argos  :tu:

According to the Fenix specs it can take two lights, one on each side. The idea is one is for close lighting and the other for distance lighting  :tu: So one could be angled for straight ahead and one angled downwards.

Any thoughts or views?

Hey mate, just my 2 cents.

I got one over a year ago.  Not used it for a while now but the times I did use it I liked it alot.  You go the option of using two lights like you said, plus you get an extra battery storage device that can sit on the headband or go into a bag etc.  The top band stops the thing from slipping down over your eyes which is a big plus when you're climbing, running etc.

The light holders can be moved around the headband to point in different directions relative to the direction in which your head is pointing, they can also be elevated/depressed so you can tilt the flashlight(s) up or down.  I find two flashlights overkill (I just tilt the one I use according to my needs) but the option to have two is pretty nice.   The band is designed to fit the L(AA) and P series lights but can fit larger ones to a certain extent.

I've not put mine through any really tough activities, but its served me well for what I use it for.

Rich.

If you intend using it regularly, it should be ok. For something cheaper for more occassional use, there is:

.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

For something even cheaper and even less comfortable for long time use :D, there's the NiteIze headband.

Thanks guys  :tu:

Appreciate the review Rich  :salute:

I think the Fenix one is far superior to the others recommended and this is reflected in the price. I think my use is definitely occasional so I'm going to go with the Nitecore Headband  :D

At £5 how could I resist? :D If I order from Heinnie I'll probably get it yesterday  If I feel the need for something more substantial I may go down the Fenix route  :tu:

Thanks again for all your help; I'll let you know how I get on
