Look what I found
on: November 10, 2010, 11:24:33 PM
Hello everyone.  I was out with my cousin today and I found this laying in the parking lot of a Lowe's store.  I think it is a Gerber Multiplier 600 from what I see on this forum.  Now I understand what all the fuss is about and why people either like or dislike this multitool.  My first impression is that I do not like it.  The pliers rattle when open or closed and you have to open the tool up to use any other tool other than the pliers.  I will just have to give it more time I guess and hey it was a freebie.

The blades and screwdrivers may be slow to get at, but lotsa folks feel the fast one-handed pliers make up for it. :salute:  Depends on what part of a multi you use the most I suppose.

Good grab in any case! :multi:

I do like the 600s.  The tools are slow to get at, but I enjoy the pliers.  slide-slide-slippity slide...right until I manage to catch the skin of my hand in some sharp corner of the tool's handles :)

I gotta say...I'd have been torn between "WEE FREE TOOL" and turning it in to the Lowe's lost and found.  I've turned money into lost and founds before, and ended up getting it back when no one claimed it, but I doubt the world of retail works like that anymore...might just go home with whoever I turned it in to :P

You will not believe this, but I did take it to the customer service desk and they said they do not sell those and that they could do nothing about it.  They acted like they could not be bothered with the "problem".

I like the OHO of the pliers on the MP 600 plus the drivers and blades and mine have the Tungsten Carbide cutters which have worked pretty well for me so far.   :D

Good find there mate.  :tu:

I got an MP400 and never really decided what I thought of the slidy-pliers.  I EDC a Charge now so I suppose there is your answer.  I can see the benefits of OH deployable pliers though, especially to a tech guy up a ladder etc...

My wife has the old style Mulit-pliers--no locks.

I really like that tool.  Not as much as the PST (which I had) but that was only because the Gerber was more "pinchy" and the file wasn't as good.

Loved the sliding head however.

Nice find mate.  Shame for the guy who lost it, but at least you tried.  Chap I know has a Gerber Diesel I was looking at last week, gotta say I quite liked it. :)

I was back in the Lowe's and there was a "wanted" ad there for the Gerber multi asking if someone finds it to please return it.  I did return the thing back.  I called the guy and told him that I had it.  I am fine returning it because he did ask for it back and also I did not like the tool so it was the right thing to do.

...don't forget the warm fuzzy feeling inside  :D
You did the right thing. I lost a new camera on the train with photos of my visit to my family in Australia on it, it was never handed in to lost property, so someone has a new camera with a bunch of (for them) meaningless photos to delete.

Nice one!  Too bad the dudes at Lowe's were jerky about it.  At least dude has his tool back, and you have one less thing to pollute your junk drawer with :)

You did the right thing by returning the Gerber to the owner.  Usually these things have a way of coming back around in your favor someday.
