Start putting warm tint's in there E01's

I gave my old one to my Brother, as he was going on a caravaning holiday, and it's replacement definitely has a warm corona surrounding it's purple hotspot

I seem to remember reading there is a bit of a 'tint lottery' when it comes to E01's.  Sadly I can't remember where I read that so there is every chance I'm making that up.

Yeah, LEDs vary quite a bit in general - they get batched into emitters of similar frequencies but they can't all be the same.  I've not read anything about a specific change in Fenix LED but then I haven't been looking.

Truth be told it's not massively different from the regular E01's I've had, just a fair bit more of a yellow tinge

Then you have just seen LED variation.

Like it's already been said, LED's can vary greatly in the same batch and you usually have to pay more for a certain guranteed tint.  As Fenix's are in the "cheaper" catergory of lights, I would expect to see more variation in those compared to the pricey Surefires, RA's etc.

I have an E01 with a warmer tint, too. It's a black one. My gold one and my blue one have the cooler tint...

Yes, as others have stated, it's a simple tint lottery.  I bought an E01 right when they were released to the public that has the warmer corona like you describe.  All others I've seen since have the nasty purple.  I like the warmer one!

The two that I bought from the original pre-order have the warm corona, the blue one has a warmer corona than the purple one.

A black one from a latter batch has an even warmer corona.
