I would recommend against the shard.  I own one myself and thought I would be very happy with it, but just found it too small to use as a prytool, and the bottom lip is too large for my liking as a bottle opener.  If you find you need to pry a lot, I would go with a dedicated prybar tool that's a little longer and a little thicker.  I just ordered a Piranha from pockettoolX and yes, it's a little expensive, but I feel better about it's usefulness. I know the Atwoods are wonderful tools if you can afford them / get drawn to buy them, so I don't think you can go wrong there

One of the nice things about being a newbie in a forum like this is the fact that you find answers to your questions without even posting the question.  I am trying to decide which one piece tool to add to my EDC.  After reading this thread I have decided on the Pocket Wrench.

I'd recommend a Raker Ring Tool, though I don't have one  :-\

But for what I heard they are great....

I have Shard, and it's a great little keychain tool...

Pocketwrench is also a nice one if you stumble upon nuts and bolts...
