It looks something like an old school Leatherman.  Given the domed fasteners I'd say it looks most like a Sideclip.  BUT IIRC the original story it was in fact a Chinese made clone so they might have gone for that in the film as well.

The original story was indeed a cheap knockoff.  In an interview afterwards he said that he had since bought a real Leatherman tool because the saw was so bad on his cheapie.

How he plans to saw his other arm off I'll never know!

Still, Leatherman couldn't come up with better marketing than this, so I imagine when the opportunity arose to have this movie made, they probably threw lots of money at it to make sure the knockoff was replaced by a real one.

I think its a Leatherman knockoff .I was told in the real story that he used a knockoff .
Didn't the guy try and sue Doug Ritter because he listed all the foolish things the guy had done .
