I'm sure these have been discussed before but I just got one of these little guys. These are really great! To me, this is my favorite razor knife of all time.

I really was surprised by the quality, nice solid feel, all stainless, opens easily, locks open tight and takes the full size blades in a nice compact size. Even the wide pocket clip is really nice!

This is the updated version of course with the finger guard on the bottom of the blade.

If you're looking for a super quality, small pocket razor knife, I can't recommend these more. Great job Gerber!

  • You only go this way once.
I got one of those a quite a few years ago, and carried it everyday for many years at work.  Now, not so much in this job.

  • His name is Robert Paulson.
Mine is my money clip. I think it is the best thing Gerber makes, and the best folding replaceable blade knife on the market.

Slim, sleek, clever.

Great little knife, one that I often carry. Especially good with Superknife scraper blades for push cutting as well as normal cutting.

I keep hearing good things about these.  BTW I like the look of those blades Graham, nice idea that. :)

  • You're amongst friends.
My issues with Gerber aside, the EAB is one thing I still find quite useful.  It's an excellent utility knife.

Yeah, I've tried them all and at around $10.00 the EAB can't be beat.

graham,
Those scraper blades are NICE! Where can we get them?

I use a craftsman one, but its much bigger and heavier.
I saw this one in the store, but it looked to light and cheap so I passed it up.

I'll have to pick one up.
I use my folding utility blade knife a lot.

which model is the most rugged?

New_World,
I prefer the regular EAB over the Lite. You save a small amount of weight with the Lite but I like the solid feel of the regular model and there's no slots in the handle to pick up lint or dirt. That's just my opinion though.

It's surprising how quality and rugged these are, (and especially for the small amount of money!), but you'll just have to try one out for yourself.

got one from walmart.

Luckily I asked to look at it before I bought it.
I opened in and the lock had paint chipped on it and didn't lock right.
I asked to see another one and the next one was perfect so I bought it.

(btw.. they want way to much for their other knifes, although this one was cheap compared to online and other stores)

I had carried one of these for a while now myself, but I have (hopefully) misplaced it. I used the lenox titanium blades, but had no idea superknife had put out a scraper blade. Can those be picked up BM, or am I gonna have to order some?

oh and another reccomendation on the regular EAB over the lite, I finally handled one at Dicks, and didn't like the feel or the flimsier looking clip.

If I dont run across mine soon I am going to have to buy another, as it was my edc blade.

My only gripe is I wish it had a button blade changer, vs the screw, but otherwise, solid, and virtually perfect.

I love mine.
I purchased it because its so slim.
heavy enough to feel good in your hand, but light enough to clip on your pocket and forget about it.
anyone could EDC this and hardly notice its there.

I love razors because you can change the blade when it gets dull.
No need to sharpen.

I think I might buy another one to have as a spare.

I had a similar experience New_World. I bought my first one online but was in Walmart a few days ago and they had one left and since I like them so much and it was only a little over $10.00, I bought it for a spare.

When I got home I opened the package and found that the blade on this one was almost impossible to unlock after I had opened it. I noticed that the surface where the locking liner slid across was very rough and uneven. A couple of minutes with my Dremel tool with a wire brush attached smoothed it out nicely and now it unlocks fine.

So it looks like some examples may have some minor quality issues but all in all, it's still amazing what you get for $10.00.

I have the original one, If I'm not mistaken only heavy duty blades fit snugly in it. Has everyone else found this? It could be I just did something wrong when I tried to put a light weight one in.

I've noticed that heavy duty blades are slightly thicker which makes them more snug.  I've tried some blades that were a hair thinner than the premium blades and they always rattled in my EAB and Superknives.

Chalk me up as a fan of the eab. Got mine while buying alot of other tools in walmart (I think) on a trip to the states. Use it for stage crew work, far better than the bulky Stanley knife style everyone else uses.

  • I may get older but I refuse to grow up.
I picked one up with a order of toothpics and eyeglass screwdrivers some time ago. I really like the compact size and durability of it. I did put some bookbinding tape on the scales though. It was to slipery for my taste.

I had lost my edc, just bought another, and ended up getting a couple of spares, as I am not a fan of the newer version of the eab.

I thought the only update to the EAB (aside from the EAB-Lite) was the post-recall EAB, where the finger guard actually covered the bottom of the blade near the pivot.   What is it that you don't like about the newer EAB? :)
