As you suspected, an Evo is nothing more than a Suspension with different handles. :salute:

We should make this a running list, as I'm sure there will be a couple more new ones by next year! :D

Looks like they are putting some effort into these new tools.  They are something new and the crucial is improved.

Sorry still all rubbish. Cant understand why they recycle stuff and take the lazy way out. If they just stopped doing this and went back to thier old stuff it would be better for them. Unfortunatly the almighty buck is all they see now.

Vic only has the minimal tools on the market that really never changed. They seem to do ok.

Because they made a buttload of money.  Retailers were all over these tools, each wanting their own variant, and more importantly paying for them.

The new tools are a definite step up though.

My Grandparents have got a Suspension which kinda surprised me... I suppose the whole thing about the Gerber family is that they're not expensive, big or overtly knifey. They're as close as possible as you can get to the bland neutral Aristotlean shadow of the multitool.

My feeling on them is simple. If it works for you Go for it. However just relise for the same money as any of the sypholistic suspension family, there are really well made tools out there.
But for very light work they do well. However just be careful. I broke 2 with no stress really being applied to them.

So I bought the evo on ebay for 17 shipped to be a beater tool have a suspension and it is not good but okay. The evo is different though. When open the handles are too far apart to use the tool. Has anyone else seen the handles are farther apart than those on the suspension?

Although the tool load out is the same except for the Tread, each does feel different due to the different handle shapes and materials. I have very big paws and I find the EVO not that uncomfortable the few times I have played with it.

I got a Suspension to be a 'beater' model, for things like camping and the like, and my hands are fairly big for my size, I wear an XL in most gloves and I'm only 5' 10", and the Suspension is a handful for me.  I don't really EDC it because it weighs something like 9 oz. which is more weight for a single tool than I'm willing to carry.  But like I said, on camping trips and so on, it's good tool to throw in the glove box for car camping.
