I can't think of anything that uses an AAA cell with a clicky switch that I would call "better".  You might find something from another manufacturer that has a newer emitter and is brighter or more efficient, but I wouldn't necessarily call that better unless it has good build quality like the S2 has.

There are MANY more options if you're willing to upsize to AA cells.

What do you like about the light and what would you change?

Might help with suggestions.

If you're looking for brighter in a similar form factor, I suggest changing to a CR123X1 powered light such as Fenix PD10 (twistie) or PD20 (clickie).  I've heard a lot of good things about Quark 123's also, but no first hand experience.

..which brings me to another question.  Are you wanting to stay with a light with one-handed operation, with a click switch, or will a twist-type switch work for you?

Got to say the threads are so buttery smooth on my Mini AA that one handed operation is easy :)

Agreed.  It really depends on the grip you like.

How's the brightness of that?  (in comparison to the LM torch)?

My AA lights aren't much brighter than my AAA lights, but the batteries last much longer.  For increased brightness, I moved to the CR123 format.

Bright AAA sized lights with a clicky are pretty uncommon.  The one that springs to mind is the 4Sevens Preon I with added clicky switch (bought separately) .  Not tried these myself but you don't hear many complaints about them.

The Streamlight micro stream is AAA , tad bit bigger than the S2 , more throw , only one level of output . Not sure I'd consider it a step up .

Reminds me of the Microstream/Fenix LD01 mod.: Mircstream body with a LD01 head.  Was a popular mod over on CPF a few years back.  Again I've not tried it but it seems like an expensive was of getting a similar light to the Preon I + clicky IMO.

First I should mention that I'm a complete noob when it comes to flashlights, so when you guys talk about a "clicky switch", I'm not sure what that means ...  :-[.

Anyway, After getting a Led Lenser P7 as a gift from my wife I bought myself a Led Lenser P3 and I love this little light, I haven't taken pictures of it yet but below you can see 2 reviews from it (not my reviews).

I will take pictures from my Led Lensers when I recieve my new Leatherman tools (which I hope will be really soon  :)).

Greetings,

Eric

Top-Gear, a clicky switch is just what it sounds like, a switch that you press in until it clicks, sort of like a clicky pen.

Jdub, Leatherman makes the Monarch 300, which is a great light, but it's basically the same as your S2 if I'm not mistaken.
