An open letter to Victorinox.
on: December 17, 2011, 10:05:34 PM
Dear Victorinox;

Please, please, please, PLEASE, make a 74 mm Rambler.

You could categorize it into the Executive series; call it something like the Shop Steward, or the Supervisor, or something like that.

I really think it'd be a hit.  I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who'd like one.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hear Hear!!!

I'd also sign up to that too Mr Elsener   :salute:

..... and bring back the Yeoman while you're at it please

..... and there's a whole squadron of us that would sign up to a Victorinox equivalent of the Juice. If you made it 84mm long you could combine this with a resurgence of the 84mm line with greater tool assortment and bring back those wonderful scissors.

Thanks for listening and for producing the best pocket tools in existence

I'd love to see a 74mm Rambler as well.  Same goes for the Juice equivalent too. :tu:

This mammoth Executive is the first 74mm Vic I've owned.  I have to say, the size is MUCH more useful, (both the blade(s) and the scissors).  I think a 74 mm sized Rambler would be outstanding.  Maybe even Alox!

The 58mm sized blade is just too small to be all that useful.

Sign me up for the letter.

Thanks for the support guys; I figured I wasn't the only one who felt this way.

I'd settle for just having a 74 mm version of the combo cap-lifter/phillips driver in an Executive.  I think the small blade in it is kind of useless too.

Since we're also talking about 84 mm size tools as well now, how about an 84 mm version of the Outrider, without the saw?  That'd be a pretty awesome pocket tool as well.

And I second (third, fourth, or whatever), the suggestion for a SAK equivalent of an S2.  But with a fine point phillips instead of the big flathead driver.  I mean THREE flathead drivers?  Please.

Yes,an Outrider in 84mil,Alox too?! :gimme:

Honestly, that would be the perfect pocket/keychain tool for me.  I wouldn't even need the tweezers or toothpick.

The individual tools I want aren't rare or anything like that, it's just that no one, and I mean NO ONE, makes a tool with exactly the set of implements I want...

-Small blade (the large blade on the Executive is just about perfect)
-scissors (the 74 mm ones are a bit small, but would be okay, I'd prefer 84 or 91 mm size)
-fine phillips driver (about a size 0, ideally the kind that folds under the scissors like on the Outrider or Work Champ)
-small flathead driver
-bottle opener
-nail file
(tweezers, toothpick, small pen, etc would just be icing on the cake)

Is that really so much to ask?

I'm beginning to think the only way I'll ever get this kind of set up is to have a custom made... :(
