Where have I been????
on: February 24, 2011, 03:48:30 PM
:D  I hope ya'll can tell me, because honestly I'm not sure.  hehehe
Seriously, thanks for all the welcome back's.  It's been a very very long few months and I miss you guys. So, how about an update.
I am still in school.  I've got another 16 months then I'll be done.  If ya'll didn't know, I started a Radiography Tech program back in July.  I managed to pull out a 4.0 first semester which made me extremely happy.  :)  So far this semester things are going very well.  I've learned  ton of stuff and am really excited about what's to come.  The first few months of the program I really struggled, not because of the classes, but for other reasons.  It's been a steep learning curve for me with regard to interacting with classmates who are mostly 10 years my juniors.  Whew!  And let me tell ya, my parents deserve medals (and I've told them this).  I have nothing at all against people younger than me, but let me tell...what I have in common with 20 year old sorority girls would fit on the head of a pin.  Goodness...they wear me out!
Some interesting multitool incidents:
Every single one of the maintenance guys who work on the xray equipment carry some kind of multitool.  The first few months of the program (before they taught me to actually take xrays I found myself following them around when they worked on the equipment because that was at least quasi familiar to me).  Most of them carry a LM Kick or Blast but one guy has a PST.
One day one of the processors ate a film and the guy who was there had none of his tools so he used my Tinker to take apart the front of the processor in order to get the film out (that was pretty cool).  he also used my little County Comm light from my keychain to find the film.  :)
While discussing phosphorescence and fluorescence in class a couple of weeks ago, my instructor used my stay glow climber to demonstrate this phenomenon for my classmates.
I use a SAK almost every day for various things, most of them not in clinic, but still it was cool to see them used that way.  :)

I'm off today because I slipped on some ice and screw up my knee (again) and can't walk very well today.  All in all though, things have been pretty good.  Kim is great and was very happy to see me surfing the forum last night.  She wanted me to make sure I let ya'll know that she is, indeed, keeping me in SAK's and LM's...she got me a blue classic and a LM kick for Christmas, a Vic Ranger for my birthday, and a Silver Farmer for Valentine's day.  She's such a good girl!
Oh, and my dad benefited from your collective wisdom for Christmas...I made him an emergency car kit for christmas.  He loved it!  That's about it as far as news.  I'll be browsing the forum today since I'm stuck at home so I hope to talk with ya'll.  :)

Sounds awesome Gray. Good to hear you're making forward progress in this whole "life" thing  :tu: It's certainly good to have you back here. Hope the knee gets better (I know the feeling) and you can get back on the horse soon.

Welcome back Kelly. I was wondering about how you were doing for some time now.

Good to hear that both of you are doing well.

You should get a Vic SwissTool and one up the maintenance team.  :D

:salute: Yes sir!  LOL!  I actually am giving Revi her pre-spring check up next week.  Can't wait!

I really am enjoying my classes. For the first time ever I'm really enjoying Physics too.  Go figure!  :)
And Allan, if you think Xrays are cool...you should see MRI...that thing is wicked!!!

My wife is an RTR, she graduated 5 years ago and works in an Urgent care facility.  I really am proud of her because that program put her through hell.  She studied nonstop and never had fun, so props to you Kelly for sticking with it.  It is a rewarding field and we need more people to devote themselves to the Medical industry.  I am unfortunately an OCD hypochondriac so I can't work in the medical field, it'd be like a moving contradiction for me to do so.

I need to finish school.  My wife is this fantastic knowledgeable xray shooter, and I am a Transportation manager for a golf resort.  We both charge outrageous prices, but at least she is doing some good!

Nice to see you're back and that you have been busy accumulating new toys as well as knowledge ;)  Hope the knee doesn't give you too much grief :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Thanks, Mercury!  It is pretty grueling and combining it with full time work just sucks.  But it's fun, most of the time.  :)

Thanks, Neil.  I think I've accumulated more knowledge than new toys, but it's all good.  And the knee is better.  Almost back to normal (which is about 85% of the other one, but that's normal.  :) )
