I can't help but notice...
on: February 27, 2011, 01:06:59 AM
I can't help but notice the sudden surge of "members" here in the forum with regards to Mat's giveaway. I'm seeing member accounts with a single or a few post/s just posting their lottery numbers, nothing else. No thank you even. If this trend continues on with future giveaways, there's a very large chance that the owner of those dummy accounts will always be the winner.

Hey, this is just my hunch. But if it's proven to be true, I'm suggesting that only members with at least 20-30 posts or higher be eligible for giveaways. It's not because of lessening the competition on giveaways, but it's because we're a family here. We like our family to become larger, but not in this way (by that I mean dummy accounts).

Just my opinion. Bosses have the final say. Thank you.

This is quite common with giveaways recently; the newbies and lurkers come out of the woodwork and once the giveaways are over, they disappear again.  It's also possible that some of them are creating dummy accounts just for extra giveaway tries.

I went back and looked at 5-6 pages of the SwissGrip giveaway.  Most of the entrants seem to  be (relatively) long time members with low numbers.  None were members of less than 2 weeks.

Hopefully they'll feel like posting more often.

There's also always the chance that some of those lurkers turn into posting members. :tu:

This is clearly unfair, but I highly doubt it's happening. On the original topic, we all started with a low post count and worked our way up. Also there are more giveaways for Charter Members. ;)

As Gareth said the more the merrier, so hopefully they stay around.. :tu:
And there are ways to make sure it's not an "extra" dummy account that wins the grand prize.. ;)
