open to all project, create a new multitool?
on: March 10, 2011, 11:26:33 AM
i have an idea
maybe if we could bring i dont know 1000 person (yeah right like they are going to do a tool for 1000 person) any how, if we can bring a 1000 here and a 1000 from the edcforum and a 1000 from the blade forum
and ask for an improved skeletool in other words a mut but for everyday person from leatherman? what do you think??
i know that it takes milions to create a new model no matter what it is even if its a plastic tree it costs alot of money, anyhow maybe we can help, many of users here already did mods that are better than the original tools, so maybe we can make a multitool.org leatherman tool and ask if leatherman to do this multitool

i think what will everyone want is an everyday MUT

im saying let do this, if it is possible and if you all agree we will start gathering ideas after that making a sketcher (drawing) of the model and maybe we can make something here:P
so who is with me , just answer the pole :P

Love the entousiasm but can't see it happen to be honest. For the same reasons you mentioned yourself. I've seen some very proffesional mods on here but for a very long time but it seems that Leatherman never jumpt on any of them. Or if I see how slow progress is on for example Multitasker, I do not think your plan would work. But if you can make it happen I'm all up for it  :tu:

I'm with zepla I'm afraid. Try to get even 100 of us to agree on what would be a perfect load-out for a multitool and see what I mean... :D

I dont wont to be negative but i agree, the perfect MT is a rare beast but for me my wave plus a pocket knife does me well these days, i would love to see a UK legal wave type LM but i dont think it would ever happen and its like going back in time technology wise  :D  if many are up for a go ill stick my name down  :tu:

Maybe we can start by combining all the best mt out there :

powerlock 2.0 + wave + supertool 300 + MUT + juice + swisstool + ....... =

then the drawing.....

The best multitool would be:

comfort and materials of Charge TTi + Surge's size (4,5") and replaceable saw blade system + looks and design of replaceable parts as well as strength of a MUT + set of bits in various lengths + bit extender + standard bit kit + great sheath.

I share your frustration. Nearly every tool i look at i would prefer it to slightly different. People designing these products need to think like the mind of a modder or at least take on input from people like on these forums. It seems no matter what tool you buy you always seem to have to 'mod' it to how you wish it would be or make do with something thats less than ideal for you.
