Naked Leatherman Juice XE6
on: February 28, 2011, 04:41:42 PM
Thanks to Brother NeitherExtreme's naked Juice pics elsewhere in this sub-forum, I thought I would give it a try on my XE6.  So I hit it with a dremel (and wire wheel), and am pleased with the results.  Its not quite as smooth and satiny as I am looking for, but its headed in the right direction.  Nice improvement (in my view) over the OEM purple.  Something different, anyway.  One can have only so many multitools before you start peeling the paint off to have something different.

I like it! It's nice to know my KF4 has a big brother out there. :D I guess I was lucky, that corkscrew scale looks kinda tricky. I don't know if you plan to smooth it out any more or not, but either way it will probably polish up a little over time if you carry it. At least mine did.

I do like some of the Juice colors (though not the purple so much), but the bare metal just looks very "tool-like" to me. And now you know this tool is yours, apart from all the others out there. :tu:

It looks nice, I wish Ps4 and juice came with polished metal scales instead of painted ones.  You did this completely with a wire wheel? Any idea if it took some metal off the scales or only the paint?

I did it completely with the wire "wheel" bit on the dremel, thats maybe just a little smaller than a quarter.  It took the paint off easily, but I think I gouged the scales a little just by being too aggressive.  I'm satisfied with it for a first try, though.

I'll bet it would shine up nicely if you used the cloth/felt wheel in your Dremel with some polishing compound on it. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I hit it with the dremel and felt wheel, and some Mother's Mag Wheel polish, and it shined it up somewhat.  I'm satisfied.
