Since there seem to be a lot of different opinions on SOG´s scissors, what is yours?

Wow, I'm the first, no secret ballot in this case!  I've never had an issue with SOG scissors, they do everything I ask them to do.  My old LM wave scissors were super sharp and cut like mad but would lock closed when using, the spring sliding off it's notch.  Not sure about new LMs.  Other than sticking and locking issues, good scissors just need to cut.  Anything heavy duty and you should be using a knife or pliers.  I wouldn't expect scissors of this size to cut through thick canvas or sheet metal!  Fingernails, paper, hard to reach ziptie ends (when you want them flush), but mostly fingernails!  SOG spring system works great, and the blades are fairly sharp, so no problem!

...But then again, I've only used a handful of multi-tool pliers, so maybe I'm horribly out of touch with reality. ;)

I think they're probably the worst I've ever used on a multi.  My son had a set I fitted into his PT-510 but eventually he had enough and we replaced them with a v-cutter.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

If they're anything like the scissors on the PT-540, I'd go with "they work but there are better". They tend to stick and split some times, and are a pain to use with harder materials... but they do occasionally cut, don't they? :)

As I said in the other thread, I really want to like them. They have a better spring than LM's, and they don't have that problem that LM's do where they loose spring tension and stay shut during extended cutting. But they really just don't cut well, They work fine on paper, but not much else.

They're awful.  They're uncomfortable to use for anything but cutting loose threads and don't cut as well as Leatherman or Gerber MT scissors (I've never tried the scissors on any Vic pliers-based MTs).

They're not worth having in a SOG, IMO.

Actually, fingernails are about the only thing I use scissors for anyway.  The 58mm Vic scissors work fine for that, so put some other useful tool into my MT besides scissors.  With that said, I do usually opt for scissors in Vic multis, because they're excellent.

This is very true! All of my Vic scissors cut very well and everything their size can handle.  8)   I also don´t need scissors that often but I find them very useful to cut plasters for example which a knifenut like me needs here and then. :D  Has anybody experiences with SOG scissors and cutting plasters here?

I think that says it all.

I try to cut plasters with a blade so as not to get the scissors stuck up with adhesive.  Admittedly if you are one handed due to injury that's not always possible :)

Well I'm rare in my appreciation for SOG scissors.  I have just never needed them to cut through something that I couldn't use a knife for.  I have been snipping various things as tests at work and home since this topic was started, and I've realized that there is very little I would consider using scissors for.  Why are they taking up space in my PL?  Probably because I haven't ordered another blade yet.  I really should try out some more MT scissors to get a broader view on this topic.

Plasters?  Would this be called a "Band-Aid" in North America?

Yes, right! I didn´t knew the correct term for it (I am german...) and my dictionary said it is "plaster".  ::) :D

I think that the scissors are OK and will say that the Vic scissors are just a tad better than SOG. But if you want good portable scissors then buy a Crosscutt :P

TBH I don't have a Crosscut but a Micra and it works like a charm, but if the Crosscut isn't working for you I will be more than happy to take it of your hands :P

Thank you for the offer, but being not only a user but also a collector all my babies will stay where they are!  ;)

I also owned a Micra until it got confiscated at an airport shortly after 9/11. My mistake...  :(   But yes, it was a nice little tool with good scissors. The scissors of my Style CS do work very well, too.

SOG's scissors are the reason they invented the V-cutter.  I voted NO.

I`ve never used SOG scissors so cant say either way. I do not really want scissors in a multi tool so have bought all my SOGs without scissors.     :)
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I once did a comparison of the scissors on all the tools I owned including SAKS, Powerlocks, Wave/Charge and Gerber.

Not only did I find the SOG Powerlock scissors to have the most trouble cutting of the bunch, but I found them exceptionally uncomfortable to use as well.  Additionally, among the Powerlocks I own and have owned the scissors seem to be prone to issues with improper locking when opening.  For some reason on the tools I've had they just seem likely to not open and stay in the locked position.

My favorite scissors are those on a SAK, and second would be the Leatherman Wave/Charge.

The awful scissors are a major factor in why I no longer carry a PowerLock.  I've used multitools from all of the major brands and a lot of the minor ones, but SOG's scissors are easily the worst I have ever encountered.  They just don't cut.

There are a lot of things I like about SOG tools.  The compound leverage system and plier jaws are great.  The ability to swap around components is great.  The locks are solid.  If they would just reverse the fold-out direction and make a decent pair of scissors I'd marry the darn things...

If the scissors were good I would still own a SOG (well a Paladin).

That’s the good thing with SOG MT’s, you can take it out if you don’t like it!

worst little scissors I ever had/tried. I just wanted them to cut light-cord or paper, brand new wouldn't even do that proper so I switch them out with a V-cutter and never looked back.

Sog could learn a few things about scissors from SAK or Leatherman or even Gerber!
judge others by how they treat those they are allowed to mistreat
