Damn. Will 91mm fit if you change pin size or are they too long?

Too long sadly.   84mm Golfers did used to come up on eBay reasonably often though so I'd keep an eye on there.

Ok i will try that. I'm trying to work out what mod to do. Are all 84mm scissors the same? eg will a 1980 pair of scissors be the same as a later pair? I know there was an update in 91mm scissors in the rivet but not sure on the 84mm

All 84mm scissors 1952+ are pretty much the same. They did not go through the evolution that the 91mm scissors did in the early 70s. The spring changes from single leaf to wishbone style, and that's about it. They were discontinued in production the mid to late 1980s, so there is no update to the riveted style like the 91mm version got in 1991. Some limited production run models with scissors were made in the mid to late 1990s, and they had the same style as earlier models. Pre 1952 the scissors design is slightly different.
