Zebralight has started taking pre-orders for their SC600: an XML, cool white, 18650-only light. Zebralight claims inn turbo mode, it turns on at 750 lumens and ramps down to 500 after a few minutes. The light is a nice size, I think: about 4.2" (107mm) in length, 1.18" (30mm) bezel diameter.

The operating voltage range is 2.7V - 4.2V, so 2 x CR123A is out of the question.

Zebralight addressed the "hot pocket" issue (accidental turn-on in your pocket) by recessing the switch further into the light's head.

The power deactivation switch remains, although I personally wouldn't carry a 4+ inch flashlight in my front pocket or any flashlight in my back pocket. I would sit on it eventually.

And, as is Zebralight's way, it comes with a number of different modes accessible by clicking and double-clicking. I just wish they used a higher voltage head so it was CR123A primary and RCR123 Li-ion compatible.

I'm a hard core flashlight junky http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?87150-list-your-lights, and it was my first obsession before straying into guns, knives, multitools and EDC gear.

I tell you its sorta fun to be away from the flashlight game for a few months, because when you come back there are so many new/better emitters and lights.  My latest purchase is the Quark 123^2 Turbo X, feeding on an 18650 battery tube.  Sweet mother of pearl.  450 lumens from a light the size of the old Surefire 6P, with maybe 3 hours of regulated runtime on high.  This stuff was unthinkable just a few years ago when Arc lights pushing 60 lumens were da bomb.

I just received a new Energizer vest light, part of their Hard Case Tactical line.  It uses a TIR optic, is powered by 1 AA battery, and the FL1 standards rating is 47 lumens and an 8 hour runtime.

It is made in China and the case is plastic.  There are magnets inside the removable metal clip so you can stick the light to a steel or iron surface.

The Energizer web page is at: http://www.energizerlightingproducts.com/productlines/hard-case-tactical/Pages/HCTMOS11L.aspx#startNavigation

My SC600 is in my pocket!!  It's truely wicked!!!  When it is officially released with full production and the neutral tint emitter it will be just a little more stunning outdoors.

It won't stay in my pocket as an EDC because it is just a bit too big and heavy for that, but it will be with me in my bag, coat or car.

Maybe I wimped out, or maybe my exactly standards would not allow the drefraction caused by the precence of H2O in the atmosphere to interfer with my beautify beam shots    OK, so I whimped out.

Now since the SAK forum is dead here are my less than exactly standard based beamshots... Yes I could have done much better, but you get the idea.

Nice one mate.  Seems like it's still geared more towards flood than throw, right?

Yes, it's major flood, but because of the high output it has a good amount of through.  Picture is not very good at showing the light, the distance was only 50-55ft, and not quite dark enough.

Correction:  That is a TK11-R2 included in the shots (not TK12)

(Image removed from quote.)

I'd love to have one of these in neutral.  The small size of it is fantastic.  I was going to get an SC60w but I think I'll wait for the 600w.  It IS too big for EDC; I'd use it on my bike for riding, camping, dog walking, etc.

I'm still considering the Spark SL740NW though... it's somewhat throwier, has both side and tail switches, and looks better heat sinked.

Agh!  Decisions, decisions...  Either way, I still need to save my pennies for either one, so hopefully as time goes by the decision will become clearer for me.
The first Noble Truth: life is suffering.  Only by accepting that fact can we transcend it.
