Hey everyone,
Im looking for some new headphones and some new earphones.
ideally i would like the headphones to have noise cancellation but its not a must, i want both to last quite a long time so good quality is a must!
Im willing to pay for the better sounds so what are some good quality good sound headphones/ earphones
(i like in ears for earphones)
headphones will be used for watching films etc and music while im travelling by train or hooked up in college and earphones will be used when im out and about and down the gym
haven't really got price range in mind so lets see some suggestions

For earphones I would recomend Aurvana In-Ear2 from Creative

The sound is very good and the noise isolation is awsome! I just love the earphones from Creative.

I am a budget audiophile. I say start here:
http://www.headphone.com/
Now my personal everyday use setup has these two items:
Sony MDR-V6
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sony-mdr-v6.php
Headroom Total Bithead
http://www.headphone.com/headphone-amps/headroom-total-bithead.php
The headphones are what they called a closed design, which mean they give natural noise isolation without noise cancellation technology. These are studio quality headphones and are rugged. Now they are great for sitting and listening but not for moving. For on the ear use for exercise, iPod use I like the Koss PortaPro
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/koss-porta-pro.php
and the Sennheiser PX100
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/sennheiser-px-100-ii.php
I am not all that sure about an inear headphone as I do not use them much. Take a look at this website and talk with them as this is what they do. I have used this company for 15 years on and off so they are a good place to buy from. Also you can get ideas from them and try and find a cheaper price via Amazon as well. I hope this helps.

+1 for Sennheiser. Personally I have a pair or PX 200 cans for my laptop/ipod etc. I have some fairly cheap Sony in ear ones for my iphone... never seem to carry any decent ones around.

I haven't bought any cans in a while, but I'm sure I'd buy Sennheiser, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic or Grado if I was in the market today.
As far as ear buds go, my favorites are the Yuin PK1 and PK2. The PK1 is the high impedance model. It has better frequency response but will require a headphone amp. These are open-air ear buds though, so they don't block out external noise. I'm not a big fan of sealed earbuds.

For over the ear I have a set of Sennheiser HD228 and for in ear I have some Westone UM1 IEMs(In Ear Monitors). The UM1 are the most comfortable "ear bud" type I've ever worn. I can wear these lying on my side in bed and not really feel them in my ears. They use Comply Tips foam tips instead of the rubber type.

I recently picked up some Skullcandy Ink'd in ear as the other budget ones I had I didn't feel comfortable with.

mine are the mic-less version of those, not given them a full workout yet, but they seemed loads better than the panasonics I had before and budget priced too!

These babies.
Besides being stupid cheap when I bought them ($20 on clearance from Wallyworld) and hilariously retro, they actually have very good sound reproduction.

both the wife & I have cheap Panasonic cans for the PC, model RP-F290 ... not the greatest, but we've burned through a few pairs over the years... We also have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250 's that the wife used to use for production when we worked at the radio station, but someone grabbed them and used them in the studio and blew them...
even after we tried replacing the drivers they still aren't the same...

+2 for Sennheiser. All I've bought for the last few years. Currently rocking a set of HD555's. Sound fantastic.
As for earbuds I'm using the Samsung ones that came with my phone, because they were free with the phone lol. Actually they sound decent for what they are and I find them surprisingly comfortable.

I find the Koss Porta Pro to be excellent VFM headphones. There are complaints of breakage, but Koss has a lifetime warranty, and they replaced mine free of charge.
