Questions about the Preon 1
on: March 24, 2011, 10:00:31 PM
I think I've convinced myself that this is the light I've been looking for.  The smallest light that takes a standard battery, has three levels of light (actually I only really need the high and the low, but won't turn down the mid) and if I'm not mistaken can use the clicky switch.
I'm looking to carry this on the necklace with my knife so weight is an issue. I believe the Preon is pretty light?
Those of you that already enjoy this light, can you confirm that indeed you can us the clicky with it?  also is there a way to buy it with the clicky already attached?  Where is the lowest price for one? Is there another light similar to it that is less expensive?  If i buy this light can I buy a Preon 2 body and switch it When I want a pen light?
This will be the second most expensive light I've purchased, and I still have a tough time spending this much on a flashlight. Tho i do know the quality is worth it

If you don't need the clicky switch, the iTP A3 is smaller. And much cheaper. Still three modes, comes in all sorts of materials.

You'd have to buy the clicky switch extra. 4sevens.com (the manufacturer) has the best prices if you use the cpf8 code for 8% discount and you get free worldwide shipping. The only problem I heard some people have with them is that the clicky is too soft and it can turn it self on in the pocket, but as you will be carrying it around your neck that shouldn't be a problem. It's not the smallest aaa, the itp a3 and the dqg tiny are smaller but they don't have the clicky option you are looking for.

Thanks guys.  I already have the Maratac AAA (which I love).  But hanging a twisty light around the neck just doesn't work for one handed operation.  I've heard about the soft clicky before but as you said around my neck shouldn't be a problem.
Any one know if you can play lego with the Preon one and two?

Yes, you can play lego :)

I have a Preon 1 and a 2 body - easily interchangeable and both work with the clicky. It's one of my favourite around the house lights.

If you want to play lego, there are other options too. I believe the maratac aaa, itp a3, preon, microstream and stylus pro all have the same threads and are interchangeable. So you could just buy the preon body with a clicky.

p.s. these are not my pics. I stole them from cpf to show what I mean. Hope it's ok.
