Until now, I only bought Leatherman stuff (with one Gerber side-step ...), but after hanging around on this forum for hours and hours I decided to try my luck with ... a Victorinox knife (I wanted to buy a Spirit or a Swisstool, but I decided that I wanted to start with something a bit cheaper first).

When I was about 10 years old, my father bought me a fake Swiss Army knife in the local hardware store, and although it was a piece of crap, I carried it with me everywhere (my father never realized what he had started there ...).  And now, 23 years later I've got the real deal ...  :D

I bought myself a Victorinox Huntsman, and I must say, this beauty feels so special, all shiny, nice and soft to handle, small, sharp, great scissors ...
I just love it  :D :D :D.

And let me say, every tool on there is HIGHLY functional.  None are compromise tools.

Enjoy it!

It's a slippery slope.  :D I managed to persuade myself out of the cs4 and then bought 3 ALOX SAKs and a black bantam in 2 weeks  :bnghd: . I went the other way around though. Fell in love with SAKs first. You got a nice one.  :tu:

The Huntsman is a great SAK, for some reason it's the one I measure all others against. :tu:

The Huntsman is my favourite SAK at the moment. Good balance between size and functionality. It is the tool that I carry when Hiking, with a Vic Spirit in my pack as backup.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Congrats on the new Vic, now just wait til you get your hands on either a Swisstool or a Spirit. They are "exceptionally" well made- one of the best quailty (in my opinion).   :multi:

My wife gave me a Huntsman sometime ago, it is quite the battered old bird I should give the old thing a bit of TLC
She also gave me my first plier based MT the Surge, she is a good thing  :D , paid Aussie retail for them as well  :ahhh :D.

Nice SAK mate  :tu: :tu: :tu:

The only bad thing about SAKs is they are addictive! I remember watching MacGyver and i had always wanted a SAK since then but only finally got a real one a year or so ago. I remember walking in the malls past these shops with big displays of SAK's but they were so expensive here. I was given a couple of chinese imitation ones once and somehow they ended up in bits. They must of been really bad to end up like that as i cant see why i would have stripped them down to the bare tools

Hey, i am also a child of MacGyver!  After watching the first episode, all i wanted was one of those red shiny knives. Back then they where all over, but my parents never allowed it. Funny thing is i was allowed to use my dad's x acto knife ( i learned respect for all sharp things from handling those). After 12 years i finally got me a Vic Explorer and never looked back! :climber: Great tools!

Yeah its been replayed in Australia again. Some of the episodes i remember.well. They replayed season one which i only found out it was on TV half way through and then they played the episodes till the end of season 3. I was getting already for season 4 but then just the other week they cut back to season one all over again. So now we are 3/4 the way through season one again. I really should get the full DVD set. It brings back memories and is still one of my most favourite TV shows ever.

Sounds to me like your addiction took a turn for the BETTER  :pok: :pok: :D
You can't go wrong with an SAK, though it took me years to realise it too.
When (not if  :D) you start buying more, make sure you give Wenger a try too, they've got some great features :tu:

+1 once you've handled a swisstool you'll be hooked ... now come on Mr Postie ... where's my 2010 Spirit RT?

The Huntsman is a great SAK. I used to carry a Spartan, but now Camo Huntsman is my EDC. Already used all of it's tools - the scisors and the saw are very handy.
Very good choice of first SAK. And many will follow  :climber:

I never would have thought these things could make such an impression on me, they just feel so wright when you hold them, I can't explain it ... and the snap when you close them is just so addictive.

The store where I bought these knives  (a local "army goods store", don't know how you call these things in English) has this great discount system, everything you buy comes on a card, and when you have bought 10 items, you recieve 10 % from the total amount you spend there as a discount on your next purchase, only 3 more things and I recieve my discount ...

I think yours truly will be getting himself a Victorinox Swisstool or Spirit somewhere in the near future (when the card is full)  :D.

The snap is probably my FAVORITE part of owning, using, and loving the almighty SAK!  Love that sound!

oh yeah, it's just so... satisfying. *SNAP* mmm...

i can actually differentiate all the tools on my soldat from their distinct snap alone.

i don't smoke but i have a bunch of zippos that are really worn from the years of tricking and idle clicking.

I try to avoid snapping any blade; it's blade abuse, in my opinion. :/
