Some weird SOGs
on: April 22, 2011, 03:16:49 AM
As you might have seen, at least two internet discounters (here and here) have been selling the SOG Powerlock model S61. They are interesting because they are the sought after gear cover/old lock hybrid models. The yugster ones had a nylon sheath, but the dailysteals one have a leather sheath that holds the included 1/4" socket. The leather sheath appears to be a overrun from the Paladin PowerPlay line, that SOG covered up with another stamp. One of the three PLs I'm forwarding has a small defect. It shouldn't impair function at all.
Tools: saw, awl, flathead, phillips ,can opener and file on one side; PE blade, bottle opener, 1/4" drive and scissors on the other.

Nice Pics!

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these as my first SOG. The tool array looks very impressive and from what I can make out the gear cover/old lock combo is the best of both worlds. Although these can be customised with different parts, I think this is the tool selection I'd have ended up with anyway if I had to cherry pick my own assortment for the powerlock

Looks like a bit of an "oops" on that sheath! :D

SOG sheaths really are quite excellent though. I'll take thick leather and snaps over nylon and velcro any day. :salute:

Very true, although these are very big because of the socket.

Well that's true enough. :salute: Do the S61 tools have the socket adapter tool at least?

My S61 came from  Daily Steals. The sheath is the strange leather one pictured, it was supposed to come with nylon. I can't find any flaws on my tool. It does have the plain edge knife blade. This is my first SOG tool and I'm impressed
