as much as i've tried,i cant find any job that the cap crimpers are suited to other than what they're built for, crimping blasting caps.i dont work with or anywhere near explosives,i'm just your ordinary, everyday guy.can any members here educate me with some everyday, real world uses for these plier heads before i buy another leatherman just for the jaws.any and all suggestions are welcome.

The crimpers are a great place to hold walnuts when you crack them.  I hear it's also useful for coaxial cable.

Other than that they just look cool and make you feel as if you are a secret military operative, and you can get a phone call at any moment to "activate" you, which I think is the real reason they put them on a civilian market tool.

Split sinkers while fishing, small caps while doing electrical work, also pistachios that are not split.  That being said, even Juli said that the new crimpers "were'nt Leatherman's greatest moment."  So am I am guessing that they are looking to improve the crimper.

They are like bamboo toothpicks, you use them, throw away and get new ones.  :P

Except they don't come in 500 packs that cost a dollar.

Actually, I've found 2 regular uses:
I work part time as a tattoo artist. The crimper is great for tightening the needle-bar eyelet onto the tattoo machine's post.

I also practice archery - again, the crimper does a pretty good job of attaching a brass nock to the string if you don't have a set of nocking pliers around.

Granted, these are very specific, but so is a blasting cap crimper I guess.

Used mine to to bend a chain link out, to make a slightly wider hole for a lock. Makes a great nail puller, and screw holder for power drills. Have used it to crimp electrical connectors. Also makes for grabbing unusual shaped objects better.

I've discovered mine is very useful for grabbing the bail on my coffee perker when camping. It's very secure, so I don't have any concerns using that to hold while I pour.  :tu:

I actually used the crimper to hold the knurled screw on the charge while taking it apart for my many mods.

Fits it perfectly and also doesn't mangle it up.

I use mine for clamping split shot sinkers when fishing, electrical crimping, and cracking open those pesky unsplit pistachios.  Also, I read once that the crimper has a perfect design for use on the nocks of archery bows.

I've never found a good use for the crimpers but they don't get in the way either.
