serrated edge and cutting hook
on: January 08, 2012, 02:17:07 PM
Looking for a one piece tool with these two features.

Not too small, since to pull on it would need something to hold onto, but of course, not too long at the same time, say around 4-5 inches long maximum

Ideally all metal. And since I'm a UK user, it can't be knife like, since would then count as a fixed blade, so the cutting hook should be at the end of the serrated area, so it is very obviously not a knife, cannot be used for stabbing.

Yes, the Gerber I have my eye on, if only it had a serrated edge section it would be perfect.

Not all metal, but has roughly what you need for a decent price:

Hmm, that seems pretty good, nice size, nice reviews, V nice price.

Anyone have any experience of it here?

Edit: if only the same thing was avbailable in a slightly slimmer design, metal instead of plastic, would be perfect, but it seems this may be the closest thing to what I want.

How about putting one of these on a keyring?

Interesting idea, just wonder how easy it would be to use without the tool behind it to grasp.

Pretty much perfect, but too 'knife life' for the UK, and I already have a torch, so don't like the redundancy.

If on the other hand it had a firesteel on one side, and a window breaker on the other, than that would be pretty hard not to get.

I know what you mean mate, shame they dont do trhis model with firesteel option like the sl3 fire, ive ordered the sl pliers as well as i think you get more for your money with these tools  :tu:

my sl3 fire (firesteel instead of torch)

That's what the keyring would be for... :)

I'm assuming that the Boker Coptool is way to fixed blade like?

I actually tried the SOG cutter on a keychain a while back, and although I do think it can be easily used, it had a habit of tangling itself up with just about everything near it!
