Raker Ring Tool: King of the Cold!

We're having a serious cold streak here in mid-Atlantic states. Tonight, it was 16F when I had to go down to feed hay (about 10pm). I had my blue Farmer with me but I couldn't open it with my gloves on.

Then I remembered I had hung a Raker Ring Tool in the barn. Totally awesome. Grabbed it by the keyring and bingo! I opened a couple bales of hay with the Raker, no muss, no fuss and no cold hands.

That's it. It's called a ring tool because you put a big split ring in the hole at the back.

Yup. As ari said, it comes with a keyring to go through the round hole. If you hold it by the ring, the pull is such that the cutting groove works perfectly.

Never fear! The Razel is along for construction and especially on apiary duty.

In the evening, I usually just have a flashlight/Atwood combo and either my Blue Farmer or Juice.

I have used a lot of different "notch cutters", but the Raker Ring Tool is my favorite. It cuts and holds an edge like a high-end knife.

Always glad to see positive comments about the Ring Tool.
I wil have a smaller version coming out before long on a limited production. I want to see how it performs before I put it up for sale. I will have it listed on multitool.org before I put it on my web site. That is the least I can do for all the support that I have gotten since I first started being here.

In my opinion, the Raker Ring Tool is one of the more versatile key chain rescue/multi tool available in the market. The best thing is, there is a fairly high chance to carry it successfully through an airport (especially after the smaller version is released)!

Sure, it does not have a window breaker that the ResQMe or Benchmade Houdini Rescue Hook Tool has but how many would want to EDC a window breaker in their pockets? I would rather placed a larger sized window breaker inside my car.

Ray, do you mind releasing the dimensions of the smaller version that is coming out? Thanks!

The outside deminsions are 7/8" wide and 1 1/2" long. The area is very limited so that there will only be the screwdriver, O2 wrench and seat belt cutter. The split ring size is an absolute necessity when operating the O2 wrench. It will be made from 3/32" D2. The first few made will be numbered and will cost $35.00. There will be less than 20 of the first ones made. I will also do some testing on the tool to insure that it performs correctly and every thing is acceptable. If they perform like I expecte them to, I will have more made and the price will drop back to between$20 and $25, depending on the cost of the cerakote.
I plan on having half of them cerakoted with blaze orange for ease in locating. Besides that, I think they would look cool.
They may be ready to ship by the 5th of April.
The ring tool has been through airport security many times. That was one of the first things I did was have some one that flew (my friends wife) a lot carry it. Not saying it is 100 %, but have not heard of one being taken.

You all must have been reading my mail. One of the hold ups was that I was having the mini Ring Tools cera koted blaze orange for more visibility. Hopefully this would cause people to ask what it is and give an opening to tell them about your tool/tools.
The number of mini Ring Tools made for the first run was only 16, that is all the D2 material that I had left to make them from. I stamped the first 10 and have numbers 03 through 09 left. I also have 6 left without numbers on them.
I will be putting them on EDCSource web site today and it will be first come first served. It looks like Gadget Guy will get the 03 ring tool. To keep from over selling, please order from the EDCSource web site as it will have all but two of them listed on the paypal button. This is what they look like. I am having more cut out from some 15N20 and they will be a little cheaper due to time and material costs. They will be a slightly different orange as I am trying to put some metalflake into the coat to make them just a bit more distinctive.
The 15N20 material I am using is already spring tempered and I may not be able to put my stamp on them. I will have to check that out and see what alternatives I have. I do know that they will all be rehardened and tempered in order to hold a good edge.
I will come back here after I post the tools on EDCSource to let those that are notified of replies that they are ready.
