How many spaces does the 1/4 drive take up? Could I trade it for scissors on mine?

Probably, but you'd have to do some moving around. The 1/4" driver takes up a double wide space, but it's also in the middle of the tool- putting the scissors there may impact the head of the pliers because of the length.

Yeah, you just have to take into account how wide each tool is and the position of them. Like Def said, the main problem is getting the plier head to fold into the main tool properly. The best person to ask is 'eodtech', as he's modded his quite a bit and he'll be able to help you im sure.
