What's the procedure or taking sak's on a plane?

I know you can have one on your person but can you have one in your case? Thanks.
All mushrooms are edible, some only once.

I would imagine that if it is in your hold luggage then no problem. I doubt you would be able to have one on you or in your hand luggage.

If it has a blade, or scissors longer than (?)2 inches or an awl, it can ONLY be in checked baggage.

Screwdrivers, files, pliers and small scissors may be brought on board.  HOWEVER, the actual tsa agent has fairly broad abilities to confiscate objects they deem dangerous.

Does this mean a Classic SD would be allowed to take on board unchecked?

no reason not to have one in your hold luggage, just so long as it's legal in your country of destination, though I can't instantly think of anywhere it wouldn't be.

Carry on rules in the UK are as simple as they come; NOTHING even vaguely sharp or pointy to be taken on board.  No nail clippers, no nail files, no scissors of any size, nothing.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

i have a spot in my checked luggage bag i hide my multis and knives from those less than honest employees..deep in the nether lining. Sure one could get to it if they really wanted too but i don't make it easy for them. They are on a time crunch which gives them only a certain amount of time to pilfer belongings. ( or so i tell myself)

No it has a blade, but technically the Wenger Clipper or Esquire (AT) would qualify. But, again the TSA has a lot of individual leeway.

1. Put in checked luggage
2. Check luggage
3. File stolen item claim upon arrival
4. Get told to piss off by airline
5. Buy new SAK

I usually do one of two things:
  • If I'm going to be somewhere for awhile, and want a good portion of my EDC, I use insured express or priority mail.
  • If I just want a folder (or an MT), I do one of two things: I either do the mail thing again, or if it might be near the same expense, I buy it when I get there and mail it back cheaply (I lean toward the second way even if it is more expensive, because it makes a great excuse to buy more knives/tools )  :D

Yep, like they say, carry nada.

Last time I flew I just packed a real beater old SAK in the checked luggage, so it would hopefully not appeal to the thieving smurfs ::)

Put it in the checked luggage but as deep as you can, wrap it with a nice pair of yellowy/browny whities. I forgot about my Charge Ti until just before checking out my luggage so I shoved it in the side pocket of my main bag. Nowhere to be found after landing...
