If it has a blade, or scissors longer than (?)2 inches or an awl, it can ONLY be in checked baggage.Screwdrivers, files, pliers and small scissors may be brought on board. HOWEVER, the actual tsa agent has fairly broad abilities to confiscate objects they deem dangerous.
