Looking for a good light.
on: June 10, 2011, 09:57:32 PM
I am looking for a light at least 90 lumens more if possible that is about as wide as the Leatherman serac s2. Does not matter if it's turned on by a button or by turning the head. Would like to have a couple of different setting on it if possible. Any suggestions.

Are you looking for a light that is a similar size to the S2, ie 1 AAA powered? If so, some of your choices are:

4Sevens Preon
Fenix LD01
ITP A3 EOS
Eagletac PN20A

Unfortunately, none are above your 90 lumen requirement.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I certainly can't think of a 1xAAA light that'll give you 90 lumen. :-\  Some lights advertised on Dealextreme might claim it, but that's to be taken with a big pinch of salt.

If you can go up a size to a small 1xAA light you have some options that might fit your needs.  Off the top of my head:

iTP A2
4Sevens Mini AA
Nitecore EZ AA
Fenix LD15
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

It doesn't matter how long it is, i'm only concerned about the width being similar to the serac s2. I would also like it to be AA or AAA. I want to carry it on my Leatherman sheath.

I carry a Quark Mini AA in a Wave and Surge sheath.

I'd go AA for your needs unless you are prepared to get a CR123 run light, then you get a LOT more lumens :D

Thanks for all the imput guys. Decided to go with the iTP A2. The price was very good.

Erm... the updated ITP A3 is rated at 96 lumens.  Not the greatest battery life, though.

May be Xeccon R20 is the right thing you are looking for, it reaches as high as 630 Lumens' output with an effective range of 300 meters  and specially designed with stepless controlled ring; you can choose the brightness to get more beautiful and distinct horizon as you want.
