No its a Mechanical Engineering degree, but it has a section on Computer Control. I'm using VB aswell, but it should be possible to put the code into a webpage somehow. I know you can create dhtml pages with it.

Mechanical Engineering... sounds quite complicated, yet interesting. Should be a good degree to get.

Yeah I know you can integrate VB into web based stuff (think VB.net is the best to do that, not VB6 which I know a little bit of). It does sound as though it will be tricky to do though.

Yeah vb.net is more geared to web development, the other option would be to just create an EXE, although it wouldn't be as nice or as easy to update as having a web based system. As for the course it has its ups and downs, some of the maths involved is a bit nasty but some of the stuff you learn is really interesting. I might not end up being a mechanical engineer by trade but the options it gives me are quite nice.

How about this Idea.

Open a polling page for a predetermined amount of time for each tool.  Have the members rate each tool that they have using a numerical system with values of 1-10 for each feature of the tool.  Then average them by the number of members that evaluate each tool to get your rating for the tool overall and the features of each tool.  You could also extract which tools are the most popular amongst the members by simply recording which tools recieved the most entries.  This is all fine and dandy on paper but I have no idea how it can be done since I only use my computer for e-mails and getting on this forum. :)  I think it could be done by spreadsheet.  Or just open an information collection thread with guidelines to list the tools that a member has and their thoughts on the aspects of those tools.

Hi Roadie,

Mechanical Engineering is a great field.  Got my BSME in 1966 and did my graduate studies in metallurgy.  Have had a lot of fun designing products over the past 40 years.  Keep at it! :).

PS - When I was doing all these studies, it was Fortran II and punch cards. :ahhh

Best - Joe
