Spirit file misbehaving
on: July 01, 2011, 08:17:25 AM
I dunno if this has been covered before but when using the file recently I allowed it to snap
back into the tool with more force than usual and it ended up beyond it's normal stop point
within the handle. This meant I couldn't close the tool properly or get the file back out  :o
No amount of prying with a small screwdriver could coax it back out. I had almost got to the
point of sending it to Victorinox when I discovered that squeezing the handles with the tool
closed put enough pressure on the file for me to release it with a fine screwdriver. Anyway all
is well and no damage done. Anybody else had this? BTW Dunc, I didn't do this to my BO spirit  :D

edit. Sorry for the weird text layout, must be the leprachauns!

Huh. I've done a bit of playing with my Spirit just now and I can't seem to re-create what you are talking about Chris. :-\  On mine, there is almost no extra space alongside the file when it closes for it to get past the "stop". So I guess I'm not much help.

Anybody else have this happen? ???
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I've had this happen with a full size swisstool (it went past the stopper but never got jammed ) but never a spirit .will be interesting to see if this is a one off or if there's more like it .

I'll bet it's not a common issue. If it happens on mine again I may send it in.
