Help me find a new job!
on: July 02, 2011, 05:39:24 AM
Ok, I have been at my Resort for about 4 years in varying capacities including maintenance tech, security officer, and now for the last year I have run the Guest services/Transportation department.  It includes Bell/Valet so keep in mind my utter hatred for THAT particular segment.  I don't do bell runs, but it sure sucks having to schedule staff for that area.

The main problem I have is that my job is all consuming, with people waiting until the last minute to do EVERYTHING, so their pisspoor planning results in an emergency I have to fix.  Hospitality is not a fun game.  I loved being a maintenance tech but there is no stepping down or transferring because the owner of the Resort would never let me stay on.  That's how he rolls, it's all or nothing.

So I am looking for something in the building maintenance/service tech field that will pay decent and provide me with a little travel, but just local.  Any vague ideas would just help me brainstorm.

In Maryland, bonded and licensed Handyman/General repairman do very well as independents.
