Me. I have the MUT EOD. I don’t own a gun and will never have one. But I used the C4 punch yesterday to punch holes in a hard plastic bottle . That worked better than the other methods I tried before.
Having a decent knife is always useful and I love to have more than one screwdriver-bit with me. I even used the crimp to repair a metal bracelet  of a colleague.

I was just at Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune. I was surprised by how many Marines were carrying MUTs. I don’t know if they were issued or not. I saw a couple of guys carrying OHT’s and an officer carrying a Raptor on his chest rig. I also saw a few other Leatherman sheaths, I assume Waves, on belts and two old worn Gerber sheaths.

Hi,

I'm not a gun owner either but really like the MUT.

It was my EDC for a long time. I think it is a bit underrated as a civilian MT. The downside is the weight and size. I can ONLY belt-carry it. I removed the clip and it is now much more comfortable to use. I still carry it one a weekly basis.

Cheers,

Pete

How do you use the clip on your belt? It is so stiff that I rather destroy my belt than being able to put it on.

The MUT is a very nice tool that oddly doesn't get talked about so much.  Glad you finally ordered yours.  Hope you will post up pictures when it arrives.

 :iagree:

I love my MUT, and it's still the most expensive tool I've bought to this day ... (otherwise I would've owned two by now  ;) ).

I have taken the clip off mine and use a pouch. The old-style Ti clips are very stiff, the newer plastic and metal ones are more flexible. I prefer the older ones, they look so much better

Really impressed. Big and solid. It's taking a while to loosen the pliers but it's getting there . I think it's got loads of scope for every day carry. The pocket clips was removed straight away. Love it and knew I would.

Looking at that profile...the MUT SCREAMS TO ME TO BE MODDED! After my recent success modding the Signal I really want the MUT now. I think I can easily get the Scissor and T-shank exchanger on it from the Surge.

Have a look at this thread. It needs a little bit of work to make it fit. I never went through with the mod.

Pete

thanks, looks like a lot of room in the pivot area. Modding the signal worked fine to except the exchanger, but its very difficult to add material to something.

Hey I've had a leatherman must for a while and the other day I snapped the punch thread that attaches to the body of the tool.

I am wondering if anyone knows somewhere that may sell this part because all I have been able to find is the punch itself.
Thanks

I keep trying to justify the purchase of one. I'm getting my CCW soon, and that will justify it a bit more. The accessories on the MUT (as on the MP600ST) are more designed for carbines and AR-type rifles, with the pin punch and carbon scraper.  Not 1911, shotguns, and hunting rifles as I"m used to. Yeah, it's a big and bad tool, and I like the hammer and strap cutter, as well as ST300 pliers.   Honestly, I"m not seeing anything over the "Waterfowl" type knife (with bird hook, punch, and choke wrench) and an MT with a bit driver for shotgun stuff, or the Signal for an outdoor tool. Besides, I find the Rebar pliers suitable for most stuff I do anyway. So, really, right now, I'm leaning more towards Signal. Or, OHT, just because I think they're cool (nearly bought one at my local gun store--I found the tools short, but everything usable with just one hand. It was around $50, but I didn't even have that much back then.

Is the punch a standard thread, so that I could swap it out for things like a cleaning rod or similar as needed?

Hi

A pic will help, but it sounds like only Leatherman will be able to repair that. We have an inmate Loki_mobile that sells Leatherman parts. I have used him in the passed to get various MUT parts and his service has been TOP NOTCH. Have a look at this thread: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,61708.0.html

Cheers, Pete

I use Irfanview to resize my pictures. It has quite a few options on resizing and you can do many pics in a batch.

That looks like a job for Leatherman, unless Loki can help you with the part required.

Well, I was on eBay and a gentleman was selling some MUT’s for $86.40 - brand new - last night there were 5 and this morning 2 - so I got one coming in. Just checked and they are all gone now! Photos when I get it in.
