i bought a couple items from deal extreme and it has been 38 days with no delivery yet. i checked thier site and it took them 15 days to ship one item and 21 days to ship the other. is this common?

DX can be slow with shipping, especially around Chinese New Year (it's not right now, but expect it); they have free shipping worldwide, though, so it's worth it.  Just order something and a couple months later you'll get a nice gift you didn't realize you purchased. >.>

Shipping to the US is quicker, though; I've averaged 2-3 weeks for my purchases; elsewhere takes longer, though.

Deal Extreme gets a lot of their items directly from the suppliers AFTER you place your order it so if the supplier is backed up or doesn't have the item in stock, you'll end up waiting.  If you make a large order with items from different suppliers, Deal Extreme needs to collect all the items from the different suppliers and this also takes time.  I've ordered a few times from Deal Extreme and they usually ship about a week after I've placed my order.  It then takes 2-3 weeks to receive the order.  Lately, it takes about 3-4 weeks to receive my orders because they've been shipping with China Post instead of Hong Kong Post. (HKP was much faster.)

The longest I ever had to wait for an order was 2 months because an item that I ordered (keychain) was out of stock and back ordered by the supplier.

What did they say when you contacted them? You did contact them didn't you?

On the whole I find DX to be quite good. I have long waits with them too. My second order was done over the Chinese New Year [doh] took well over two months to get here. But I've also had delays of two months during 'normal' time.

My fastest shipping was two weeks but recently it is about a month. I am now aware of that when I order :)

As James said they order the stuff after you order so if the suppliers have delays it can hold the whole thing up.

I really don't think you can really give them negative feedback because it's been delayed  Where else will you find the range of products they have, at that price with free worldwide shipping? [I know DX has a few competitors but they are roughly the same with the same shipping delays]

I don't work for them and they do drive me nuts at times but I do make big savings with them. I don't expect my stuff to be delivered by fairy unicorns two days after I order; a month delivery time is a sacrifice I am happy to make :) Agreed, it can be frustrating if you're waiting on stuff and aren't aware of their delays.

Hope your stuff arrives soon  :tu: What did you order, anything exciting?

Thanks for the feedback. I was expecting slow shipping one the item shipped. I didn't realize that it takes three weeks two to three weeks for shipping to start. I didn't see any disclaimer or get any emails about delayed shipping, although they may have something on their site. I did not see it anywhere in the ordering process. it sounds like this is normal so I should count on my stuff arriving. I ordered a flashlight (aaa) and a multi tool. I contacted them and am waiting for a reply. I may have one when I get into the office today.

I guess I was lucky. The flashlight I ordered recently shipped in about four days and arrived after about 3 weeks in transit to the US. That has been the usual experience in the few times I have ordered from them.

I'm with Sazabi: just order something and then forget about. When it arrives a year later, just think of it as a free gift :)

DX can ship pretty fast when they can.  The fastest shipment receiving time for one of my orders is 7 days (when they shipped with HKP).  I ordered a flashlight on a monday and exactly a week later, I received it.

I needed to be just a little more patient. I got my light today. It was the brightest aaa light they had listed with more than 200 lumens. It is a little brighter than my serac s2.

Another thing is if they make you pay for the registered shipping option it takes 10 times longer then if you don't have it register. That I'm not sure why.
