I know we don't have that many cricket fans on the forum, and that those we do have might not be overly happy at the news, but I do think it's worth acknowledging England's move up to the World's Number 1 test side.  Well done chaps. :salute:

Well it's been 32 years since England were last No1, I kinda doubt it's going to take your lot that long to get back to the top. :D

As to the Ashes, we'll wait and see. ;)

Ok,

Will someone give  me a quick breakdown  of how it's played and scored?  I try reading about it, but  they get too detailed.

Crickets are smart, they are hard to catch. If you swat the grass grasshoppers jumps up so you can easily see and catch them, but crickets starts crawling so you'll never find them.

Wait what?  :D

It originated from using a clock face to keep score.
Love (L’oeuf means egg in French, and an egg looks like a zero, some historians believe English mispronunciations corrupted the word.)
15
30
40 (and deuce)
50 = advantage
60 = game

This is probably what you are currently "seeing"

This, on the other hand, is probably about as simple an explanation as you could get..

Lets see; New Zeland beat Scotland by 3 wickets, Australia beat us by 7.  So I predict a win by Australia by being clearing the more dominant team. ;)

Pfft! When someone's running back and forth, it's good for those with the stick. When some catches a ball, it's good for those with the ball. People always make sports too complicated. All you need to know is when to raise your glass and cheer. Bonus points if you find some silly reason for cheering at a specific team. :D

I know a little more about cricket than that, but I think all you need to know about a sport really is when to cheer and when to jeer. :D
