Eneloop question
on: August 18, 2011, 02:49:05 PM
I figure batteries also fall under flashlights, so I'll just ask here:  I have one AAA Eneloop that is a dud; it won't charge and has apparently swollen slightly so as to stick in one of my E01's.  Mind you, the battery was charged for the first time yesterday, and is probably two years old now, but is it normal?  I thought Eneloops were supposed to last about one hundred recharges or so. :/

Sounds like there's something wrong with it and you should get rid of it. They are supposed to last but maybe it has corroded whist stored or something.

As far as batteries go I apply the same rule as to erroneous food in the fridge: "when in doubt, chuck it out".

I've never had an Eneloop do that, but that's not to say it isn't possible.

Most of my Eneloops are about 4 years old now and still going strong. Most of them reside full time in lights or other gear.

I would ditch that one.

Very unusual for an eneloop to do that.  I think you better check the charger... you didn't happen to charge it at a charge rate suitable for AA rather than AAA did you?

I agree that one is garbage, don't use it as it is now a fire hazzard.

No, my charger has separate AAA and AA contacts.  I'll toss it into the recycling bin at Best Buy the next time I go.  I guess I may be getting some more Eneloops sooner than later. >.>
