Help Identify
on: September 04, 2011, 08:03:08 PM
I have a VICTORINOX knife I nee help identifying. It looks like a Champ and has "Officer" stamped on the blade. My research shows this is an "SOS"model.Any help with the manufacturing dates etc would help. Also an  approximate value would be nice as I may consider selling it.I would rate the condition of the knife as 98% and very tight. It doesn't look like it has been used.My guess is the knife was purchased 12-15 years ago.Any help would be appreciated. My first attempt at posting pics so I hope it works.

Swiss Champ with "SOS" kit.

Standard Swiss Champ model knife with a special made pouch and "SOS" type kit goodies for survival. Too bad the pouch leather usually goes bad with age otherwise a nice way to carry a Champ.

Thanks for the info. The case is actually in nice shape. It has never been carried. It has been hermetically sealed in an old climate controlled desk drawer......:)
Any ideas on the value of this SAK?

Where's the wood saw, was left folded on the pictures or doesn't exist at all?

Assuming the wood saw does exist, it should be the variant 2 type, 1988-1991, of swisschamp described here http://www.e-webtechnologies.com/sak/Victorinox_Evolution_of_the_Swiss_Champ.pdf

It isn't clear if the corkscrew is grooved or not, but:
1. pliers have no crimp
2. ring is on corkscrew side
3. seems to have no hook either (even closed the curved indentation would be seen)
4. seem to have no pin (if there's a pin, it is not on its place)

This is a real oldtimer in good shape :)

Carlos, after checking out the link I have to agree with you.The corkscrew is grooved and the scissors have a screw. Thanks so much for your excellent help.

I also have a VICTORINOX knife that requires identifying. It looks like a Champion and has "Officier Suisse" stamped on the blade. I bought in Switzerland some time in the '70's when the exchange rate made it affordable, at the time I thought it was the dogs danglers, I will never part from it.

So is it a 'Champion or Champ' and any ideas on a timeframe for manufacture? It came with the case which included the compass and other assorted goodies

Cheers :climber:

Well it looks like you got the "SOS" sheath and kit but with a Champion variant knife. The "SwissChamp" will definitely have pliers.
