Fiskars folding scissors
on: September 06, 2011, 06:18:36 AM
I have been a Leatherman Micra fan since it first became available, but I only need the scissors feature.  This Fiskars folding scissors carries a lifetime warranty and weighs 0.6 ounces, a third the weight of my Micra.  I bought the Fiskars at a Michael's craft store.

I am going to try out the Fiskars folding scissors instead of the Micra when carrying a multitool which lacks scissors.

They look like a fancy version of the cheap ones I had as a kid... Fiskars should be better in theory!

It does have a lanyard attachment so it actually has 2 functions :D

I'll go one more; if you carefully partially close the blades, you can use the centered finger holes as an impromptu cigarette or cigar cutter, albeit a poor one, probably.

Plus they make excellent faux glasses. Or maybe not

I like how they mold the plastic handles to protect the scissors tips on those Bob. :tu: Let us know how you get along with them. :)

During 3 weeks of infrequent use:

Pros:  The Fiskars folding scissors has cut everything well that I used to use the Micra to cut.   The Fiskars blades are longer so it has a longer reach.   I am unaware that it is inside a pocket due to its light weight.

Cons:   The Fiskars is still so new that it is stiff to operate.  The plastic handles are uncomfortable on my fingers compared to the Micra.  I'm hoping that the action will become easier as it wears in.

Too early to determine their durability.
