Has anyone painted their scales?
on: October 17, 2011, 02:52:18 AM
I did.I received an Ebay SAK with some scratches on the scales so I sanded and painted.I used a texture paint made for plastic and it  supposed to be very durable. My camera work was not my best but the pic will give you a general idea. The color is a very dark gray and under sun light it sparkles I am very happy how it turned out.I have to let it dry for seven days to insure it is chip proof so it will be awhile before you can see the completed project.

I've used it on both kydex and thermoplastic sheaths I've made.  Holds up very well on plastic.  Metal, not so much.

They look good, do keep us informed as to how they hold up.

I've only ever painted the inside of scales..

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

My next project will be scales cut from Lexan and painted from the inside.

Those scales that neil did always make me think of this little guy.

Those grey scales look good chain gang, should be even better when you get them on a SAK. :tu:  Do you have a model in mind?
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
