I just got 2 new MT's in ,
on: November 22, 2011, 12:46:38 PM
Well as i got some money for my birthday monday i went out today to buy a new mobile as put my touch screen through the wash the other month  :-\ i could not belive i did it, well anyway i got a cheapy for now that will do the job fine, so while out i got a new large flask as my old one doesnt keep things hot for very long and while there i saw this Trail-outdoor leisure 11 function MT , i liked its looks  :D and for £3.99 i went for it, well i got it home and its as soild as a rock, all revited together, tools come out very nicely with a nice snap and the blade is pretty sharp, the pliers was very stiff but once i oiled them and opened and shut them a few times there perfect now, tool selectionm is as follows

1-knife
2-bottle opener plus 2 wire strippers
3-saw/file/larger flat head
4-phillips
5-awl/mini flat head
6-pliers/spanner/wire cutters

nylon pouch rubbish,

thats actually 13 functions all together ,Bulid is very good at this price, not the most comft tool in the world but a handy one for my camel back for mountain biking, really impressed and ill add more as i use it  :tu:

next the rolson mini MT , basically looks like a mini gerber suspension, what can i say cost me also £3.99 spring loaded pliers, good little scissors but no blade but no biggy as always carry a #4 opinel, tools are
1-pliers/wire citters
2-bottle opener/largest flat head
3-next medium flat head
4-little awl/ahh bless
5-tin opener
6-scissors
7-small flat head/ a little rounded looking ?
8-phillips
9-file /nail pick

very welll made little MT, probably one for the pocket for me and have added a lanyard.

A few years back I had one like the Trial one and used it constantly, even performing some minor engine work (tightening screws in the air filter system etc). I got it free with a magazine. I "lost" it at Athens airport, unfortunately. It was very slim and easy to carry everywhere.
The double wire stripper on the other tool looks unusual!

It is nice and slim  :tu: not super comfy but hey i use a wave so got hard hands  the double wire cutter is odd i agree and probably never use anyway, but a nice solid tool and more than worth the money, ive just tucked it in my backpack  ;)

:tu:  i would even pocket carry the rolson (suspension mini lol) and my only dislike on the trail is the thin bail as would prefer a solis bar type bail, i might do one myself  ;)

I didnt realise how close a copy it is to the toolclip, although has longer pliers and a phillips, plus the toolclip has the extra pin through the pliers , oh and a clip  :D

I was wondering how they got around sogs patent but as filed in 91 for 14 years i think its run out, also ive seen old pocket knives of the same design as sogs.

I've got a smaller version of the 'Trail' you have there.  For the £3 I paid for it it's really not that bad.  No file on the side of the serrated blade with mine though.  I've certainly held many worse tools, though I own many, many better too. ;)

where did you get the smaller one from gareth was it recently, i like this tool as usefull for a tool i can just keep in my camelback for mountain biking , i might get another one and throw it in the car glove box, but yes gareth i also have better tools but not as cheap as this and this is well worth the £3.99  :tu:

I picked it up at my local Army/Navy surplus shop.  It's branded as a "Talon".

Here you go mate.  The PE blade was pretty blunt but the SE one is sharp as heck, not sure how useful the screwdrivers are given their placement nor have I tried the can opener.

If you've no luck finding one on-line then I can always drop into the Army/Navy store and pick one up for you, it's just down the road from my work. :)

I don't know if they still have them; they were little keychain pair boxes; I don't know if they even had them listed online.  I think it was under the Marbles brand.

well big thanks to gareth as he didnt just send me the mini version but also a little tru utility tool chest type MT   ive been carrying the mini version for a few days now and really like it, the pliers are pretty beffy for a small pocket tool and the main blade is very sharp, it lacks the file and flat head on the saw like the larger version but no big lose in this scale as carry its bigger bro in my backpack  :tu:
