Bright suggestions

This may sound far fetched but I'm posting this on behalf of my friend.  He's going to have a few assignments working at night (pitch dark) setting up scaffolding for stands at a golf course next season.  The location is away from the city with little light pollution at an exclusive club.  So he asked my advice on bright lights with decent runtimes, which I don't know much about.  I did lead him to HID's which sparked his interest and he has targeted the Polarion X1.  Any advice from the flashlight/HID guru's would be great.  It won't be carried constantly, but placed on the course or on golf carts so weight isn't an issue.

I'm a little confused...

Does he want a handheld spotlight for looking at / inspecting scaffolding, or does he want a work light he can use to light up the area as he builds scaffolding?

If I was working on scaffold in the dark (which I really wouldn't recommend ) I'd grab my Zebralight H50 and use it as a headlamp.

I wouldn't want any distracting hot spots if I was working at any kind of height, so the pure flood of the H50 would be what I'd recommend

Preferably to light up the whole work area as he builds and breaksdown the scaffolding.  He actually just bought a Polarion X1 yesterday.

I wouldn't recommend it either, but here in this part of the world regulations aren't as tight.  Plus the club told him he can't do it during club hours that would interfere with members.  Funny thing he told me was each tree branch he breaks accidently would cost him about $500 each.
