Birthday Break in Whitstable(pic heavy)
on: December 18, 2011, 09:16:05 PM
I spent a couple of nights in Whitstable to celebrate my birthday last week.Heres a few of the highlights.Just for the scenery, and the quality of the resteraunts,I'd recomend everyone to make the trip out!

The Neptune sea front pub,as it is today, and during the 53 Flood

Some of the odd stuff I tend to find! The Ford pick up may not be that uncommon Stateside/Canada,but its not that common here, especially in such poor condition. The marker is a left over from the origional railway line, laid in the 1830s.Not sure when it was lifted but the housing in the area looks the better part of 80 or 90 years old.The windmill just caught me by surprise!

Whitstable Castle.Yes your right, its never been a military site, but instsead a Rich Victorians idea of a cool house.Very pretty anyway :D

One of the old harbour buildings...somewhat inland now :-\

Even the toilets are scenic!

Peter Cushing lived here!

And the nighttime and/or pub shots!

And lastly, and I hope this shows up clearly

The odd structure in the middle of the wind farm is a WW2 sea borne Flak fort!

There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Thanks for sharing lovely pictures! Hope someone will validate or correct me on this but I think Whistable castle is where the British code breakers where housed and worked.
