2012 is going to be a SAK year, for me .
on: January 06, 2012, 10:55:28 AM
Recently ive been getting a little bored of my stuff and started to lose interest, money sadly is a big part with my collecting so i have to get stuff ill use or it gets moved on, ive still got my LM's and love them but although my opie #4-8 are my users ive sold on all my other opinels as just hanging around, i decided to pick up a few things ive wanted to try for a while, did this, and due to jerseydevils christmas pool pressie im back on the SAK Boat, ive always liked SAK's and carried a climber for many years but due to me liking plier based MT's i drifted away from them, well ive decided to carry a basic pliers based tool in my backpack for plier needs and pocket carry a SAK again, i also got a huntsman from AHB (alan) yesterday so that is also in my backpack, there is a few more im going to get but hopefully get use out of them, im just trying to get my MT taste buds back  ;) so im hopeing to be spending plenty of time in this section  :salute:

The huntsman is a great knife, for me it has the perfect balance between size and functionality; it's not too big and I've used every one of the tools  :tu:

Climber is also very good if you don't need the saw. For a long time the climber was my normal EDC and the huntsman came with me camping.

:tu: I feel like this about the tinker, i can live without scissors as i carry a classic on my keychain and i dont need a saw in normal life  :D plus light in the pocket, the huntman has gone in my pouch in my backpack as there if i need it plus comes with my when MTB'ing or on long walks, i always fint there is something you need but so far the huntsman seem to have pretty much all i need, did i just say that   ;)

The Only Thing I Wish The Huntsman Had Was A Phillips Screw Driver. If It Had A Phillips It Would Absolutely Be Just Off The Charts Amazing.

And No Problem Zed, I Love To Trade So If You Ever Have Anything Else To Trade And Would Like To See What All I Have We Can Do That.  :tu: I Love My SAK's But Find The Only A Few Really Get Carried. But This Huntsman Is About To Be My Faithful Side Kick For A Little While Until I Get My Custom Which Is Gonna Be Amazing Lol. Really Excited For It.

Thanks Again TattooSteve.  :tu:

A hunstman with a philips is a fieldmaster I believe. I always seem to miss them when they occasionally pop up used for sale.

I also edc @ the weekend a climber but in the week its a super tinker - climber with a philips instead of a corkscrew.

Yes a fieldmaster is a huntsman with a phillips and no corkscrew. I prefer it over the huntsman actually for that very reason. :tu:

hay zed. i think ill be doing the same this year and getting more SAK's. partly because i dont think this will be a great year for money because im paying for my partner to get back to college. SAK's are cheaper than leathermans so i think its time to work on my SAK collection. also though ive recently got a taste for them and just want more  :D

i would like to learn a bit about file work this year and do some custom SAK blade spines. ive ordered my files and got some scrap so i cant wait to get going.

so far i own a tinker, camper, alox pioneer (red), alox electrician (silver), a clasic(black) and a solo (red)

the ones i want to add to my collection are a tinker deluxe, tinker plus, explorer, hiker, handyman and maybe a cyber tool one day.

i was looking for a online shop that has a good variation of colours and came across http://www.swisstool.co.uk/st/home.php.
if you havent already seen there selection its well worth having a look at. they have a far better selection that say amazon.

let me know how the explorer goes because i think ill get that next as well.  :tu:

p.s. nice pics mate

Glad to see that my gift has had the proper effect Paul  >:D:D. Mr Elsener, send my royalty check to....... :P  This year is definitely going to be a SAK for me as well, I neglected that part of the collection for a while, but it's coming back with a vengeance. It's only the 6th but between trading with Bladechick and a couple of purchases, I have FOUR new (to me) SAKs either on hand or on the way since the 1st! And another thing...I've discovered Wengers  :o. I'd gotten an Evogrip S18 on Sunday, and today came across an Evowood 18. Walnut scales! Too pretty to pass up, it came home with me. Pics when I get a chance.....
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

SAK's Are Wonderful I Just Happen To Have Got Too Many So I'm Passing Them On By Trading Them.  :tu: I'm Glad I Can Help You Guys Out. If You Ever Have Anything Else You Need Just Let Me Know And I'll See What I Can Do.
And 5hif7y You Have To Get An Explorer. I Actually Plan To Possibly Get Another One, But I'm Not Sure I'll Need It After TattooSteve Has Hooked Me Up With A Custom.  :tu:

I replaced my LM Micra with a Victorinox Manager, on my main keychain. Lets see how it works out, especially with respect to using the victorinox screwdrivers.

You can also try edcsource, as they carry a good catalog at cool prices. For stuff coming from USA there's always the risk of a custom stoppage which will boom prices up. Other options are some german online sellers which carry small catalogs but at good prices. Ex: http://www.smdv.de/categories/496_509/OnTour/Taschenmesser-Multiwerkzeuge.html
You get there a handyman for £24.6 or a huntsman for £13, for example.
