You are really limited to what they make unless you make something from a different tool fit. I just got a powerlock that doesn't have gear covers and it only took me about a minute and a half to realize why that sucks. I was trying to be optimistic with it and carry it for a while, but with my hands there is no way to comfortable hold the darn thing. It's going on Ebay and I may buy a newer powerlock. I may not though, the tool has some fundamental things about it that I have never liked and it seems that after putting piano locks on their tools a while back SOG has stopped the innovation. I'm kinda losing interest at this point.
Maybe you could ask around about a Multitool with diagonal wire cutter heads. A lot of times I don't need pliers and when I do the pliers are not the best tool for the job. If a tool had a decent set of FORGED and heat treated anvil type cutters it would never wear out from my usage. The problem that causes the damaged cutters on all the "standard" wire cutters is the cast (soft) plier head. If someone made a set of diagonal cutters instead of pliers we would have a great tool. I keep hoping to find a good set of diagonal wire cutters cheap at a swap meet or yard sale that would serve as the basis for the new tool...but making your own is not all that easy even if you had an entire machine shop available...just ask Bob. Maybe this would be a possible tool for Paladin? Paladin in partnership with SOG makes some great datacom tools....a PT-510 sized with compound leverage diagonal wire cutters instead of pliers would be great. And I'm sure they would sell a lot of the plier heads that we could put on our PPP's and then maybe SOG would sell some PPP's.Bruce

I dont know if its going to be better enough though for you to love it. I really love the compound cutters though, so it was a must have for my rotation. I've taken mine apart and added a robertson driver to it too.
I guess it would be worth asking SOG about upgrading the standard PPP with some of the upgrades from newer tools like the gear covers. Also maybe seeing what they think about a factory knifeless (scissors?) version for those who need or want such a thing.
CRKT apparently has something new from their ID Works line, just called the "CRKT Tool". I'd like to see something about that.
