Carrying Your SAK/knife front and center
on: January 22, 2014, 06:40:34 AM
I picked up a sheath for my Cybertool 34. I always hated wearing a sheath on my belt, strong side.  It seems I always bang it into things or it catches on a chair arm rest and it just drives me nuts. But..... I figured I've gotten  a lot of use from the Cybertool at work so I want....maybe even need...to have it with me at work. For the hellavit this time I donned the sheath on my belt but am wearing it right next to the belt buckle. I've found that I'm liking this. It's easy to get to, yet I don't catch it on anything. I usually wear my shirts untucked in so the shirt goes over the sheath and it's unobtrusive. I can also still lean over without it digging into my gut. :)  This, fellows, is where my Cybertool now resides. If you don't really like wearing your knife/tool on the hip then try it in the front. You just may come to like it. I'm sure some of you guys are already doing this but I've not seen any posts about wearing in the front.

I didn't try front side carry like that, but I do dislike carrying on the real side of my hip... I usually wear it more to the back, a bit on the right side of my 'behind' belt loop. This way, I can slide it to the side when I sit down, and put it back for any other maneuvers.

That's a good idea, but wouldn't work for me as I have a gut, and it would interfere :-\  However, I don't sheath carry anyway, with one of the reasons being just what you mentioned-that it would be in the way in various situations.  That, and I just prefer to be able to reach into my pocket and get the SAK or MT anyway and avoid the extra steps involved with a sheath.
