This new SureFire looks interesting. E1B Backup. It was up on their website for a day or so the other day and since been taken down. It said that it was to be a pocket back up light for detectives or police officers. 80 Lumens on high and 5 Lumens on low.

Actually that is a slick little unit.Did they post a MSRP?Anyone know why it was taken off? Also I hope the new cataloge has all this stuff.

It took them 2 years to make the jusp to the G3 and now they have the G3L., They seem to be going in the right direction!

Now if we can only get them to color anodise the alum heads diff colors.

The Surefire site had it listed as $110.00.

Not really a bad price for the unit. Do ya remember runtime for the 2 modes?

37 hrs on Low/5 lumens
1.3 hrs on High/80 lumens
I have the page saved somewhere. I am looking for it now.
We should know more after the SHOT Show.

No problem. It does look cool. I like the small 1 cell lights. I have the L1 cree that rated at 65 lumens on high and with the TIR optics throws pretty far. It looks like the E1B uses the same optics. So with 15 more lumens it should throw really good. I talked to someone at Surefire Friday about getting a 2008 catalog. He said they will be available in the middle of Feb.

I deffinatly want one of those , I have been very impressed with the GenIII L1 , and the new E1L(KX1 head ) . There runtime and throw is great , an I like the color rendering better than the Lux star .

I've had a E1b for 2 weeks now and It has become my favorite light to EDC and of all the Surefires I have it has got to be the top one. Small, really bright high mode that throws amazing, nice low mode with tons of runtime. The two way carry clip works good. It carries nice in your pocket either way, and the multiclick interface works easy. I like having high first then low. I would recommend the E1B Backup to anyone.

I got an L1 a few weeks back, and I keep debating with myself whether I want the E1B more. The small bump in brightness I can live without, but the clip on the L1 is just a hair shy of craptastic!

Why, is it too small to clip onto a belt? I keep wanting one but didn't want to pay the retail price, and the one time I made up my mind all three local sellers have no stock.

Very much too small to clip on a belt, without bending the clip that is. I could live without that if I could just clip the light in my pocket with most of the light inside my pocket, like the E1B.

I called Surefire to see if I could get an E1B clip for the L1, and the guy said it wouldn't work. Annoying, because on CPF I saw a couple guys switching out the E1B clips onto other E-series lights.

I think the smaller clips on the single cell SF's either work for you or they don't; for me it isn't great.

I've been constantly amazed the past few weeks at just how varied and important the features of a FLASHLIGHT can be. I'd really have never thunk it.

That is strange I haven't tried it with my L1 but I'm 99% sure that the E1B clip will fit a L1.

Well, so far it seems as if the clip may fit on an L1 afterall. You apparently just have to bend the clip slightly so it doesn't rub on the twisty tailcap, which is logical.

Theres more too it than just O rings . Has a stronger spring in tailcap , and its tested and certified etc . Believe its the same as the Naval version . Things get a tad bit complicated , as your ongoing maintenance or lack thereof could inpact waterproofing . Just get a UK , princeton tech or a Peli , an a case of beer with the busks you saved !

All Surefires , if properly maintained and lubed are good for one atmosphere anyway ! Ruffly 17 feet . That covers most mundane things .

I just bought an L1 on CPFMP, wonder if SF will sell me a E1B clip, and how much they'll charge for it. Hope it's not like leatherman's clip where they charge $10 for shipping when their actual cost is less than $2.  :ahhh
