91mm Victorinox Nylon scales??
on: March 17, 2012, 09:08:08 PM
A short while ago I picked up a Climber with the red nylon scales with a matte kind of finish, first 91mm I've gotten with those scales.

I'm finding that I like this more then the shiny cellidor scales, the matte finish doesn't show every scratch and wear mark like the shiny cellidor.

So my 3 questions.

Can you buy these scales?      I've only seen 91mm in cellidor and 111mm in nylon in Rotokids shop, and I don't know where else to look.

Do they come in any colors besides red?     I've always preferred green or black knifes to red.

Do they come in "Plus" configuration?     I like always having a backup pen in my pocket.

I am not 100% sure but I think I saw them at the dealer...
They should be available in black too... I have a bantam with black nylon scales, so they should be available in bigger sizes too

I do not know if they are available in plus;they are supposed to be the more economical/tougher version so maybe they are not made in plus.

Strangely, I've found 84 mm nylon scales several places, but never 91 mm. (http://www.pizzini.at has a lot of this kind of stuff, for instance.)

They are not available in plus version. And there should be more colors, for example blue, but those are usually with company logos.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

You can buy them...If you can find them. SwissB had some but his stock of scales has been lacking.
I really want a pair in black.

They come in 3 colors that I know of: red, black, and blue.

Didn't read the post date...

Swiss Bianco has them available in Red, Black & blue for both 84 & 91 mm at his website SwissBianco.com. Brand new and reasonably priced.

I don't know about reasonably priced. The pricing between his Ebay store and site are different and I believe his site will run you more actually. (Which makes no sense) Plus his shipping prices have gone up.

Guess Victorinox stopping special Alox runs may have effected things...

So I just checked out his site to confirm what I said. And well.
On the SwissB site it's $12 for the scales... AND $10.80 FOR SHIPPING!!! (to the US)
Ebay store (which also ships from Canada) $10 then over $4 for shipping.

He can suck a duck and kiss my butt. I can get a complete knife for those prices.
I'd be buying scales from Felinvet in the near future, and will not be recommending SwissB for nothing for now on.

For some unfathomable reason, for at least the last 5 years Canadian Tire has been selling a "Victorinox Fireman" (in legitimate Victorinox blister packaging), which is absolutely just a Huntsman with red nylon scales. Seriously — the nylon scales are the only thing that separates it from a Huntsman.

The nylon-scaled version will save you about three dollars over a regular Huntsman.

Would you believe SwissBianco is asking $17 shipping to the UK for 1 set of scales!
When I mentioned that it seemed a lot for shipping he replied that he sends them in a padded envelope!
What's it padded with? Mink Fur?

Last December, I ordered a SAK from www.schweizer-messer.eu, with German national colours on the scales, and some small spares items.
Excellent service, happy to post to the U.K.
Postage not excessive, Website in German, but simple enough to figure out.
They offer a reasonable selection of scales in 58mm, 84mm, 91mm, 111mm (black), and rescue tool, along with all small SAK spares. No nylon though.
They offer 91mm scales for 1.99 Euro per pair, and will confirm postage on ordering.
I have a good stock built up over the past few years so did not need to order at the time.
They do have SAKs available that I have not seen elsewhere too.
Even taking into account postage, it does not come anywhere near the prices being charged elsewhere!!!

@dave, ludicrous.

@Longtermsakfan, no sprechen sie deutsche. Couldn't find them. But I like what I did navigate through. Some nice pieces I've never seen before.
Not that I'm doing any Dollars to Euro conversion. American money ain't worth $#!&!
