Old anglehead Fulton flashlights...mods?
on: February 06, 2008, 01:27:23 AM
I recently got two incandescent Fulton flashlights and was wondering if anyone has ever seen/done/read about any kind of modifications to them.  They run on two D batteries, and they break down to the point where you can get to EVERYTHING, so I assume modding would be easy...if you knew what to use.

This light takes a PR base bulb right?

There are a few LED drop-ins you can do with the light, you may have to ask on CPF or search around. Drop-ins aren't really my game anymore, they get too expensive when you realize you can mod every light in the house.

Terralux has one here:

You can also get a Mag-Lite 6-cell Xenon or 5-cell Krypton bulb, find a suitable adapter to occupy the extra space in the battery compartment and then put 3x123 cells in and get a @100 lumen light with @1.25 hours of runtime.

3x123 cells are the same length as 2D batteries they are just a lot skinnier.

The old Fultons are fun to play with. Did they come with the colored filters?

By the way you can find LED drop ins kinda cheep for them if ya look around. They make great car lights!

With each one I got a red and a blue...I'm sure there were more, but hey, for $10 each I'm not complaining.  It's really versatile...it doesn't roll, it can stand up and point at something, it's got a big clip, a fold out wire hanging loop on the base, a big switch for gloved hands, etc..

That Terralux drop in looks like something I'd like...but I'd also like to mod the housing so there's a wider beam.  The actual bulb and reflector dish are pretty deep in the head of this light since the front half unscrews so you can drop in a colored lens and screw it back on.  If I could move the whole assembly foward a bit, the beam would widen.

I think there was also a "refractor" lens or something that came with these lights, that might also help if I could get my hands on one.

You could send it to Elektro Lumens and have it modified with a Seoul emitter & IMS reflector.

yah. They got 12 of them from some Army Navy store down the road. However we also are kinda given whatever we want for the trucks as long as you can prove it is for safety or for preformance.

For instance In my truck I also carry a Mil Issue Machette. It is used to cut down branches from trees overhanging driveways so I can get the truck in.
